a friend has almost done as deal on a japanese domestic market imported wrx!
it has 250bhp variable valve timing sometrhing or other engine.
are these cars ok? i dont see much talk of them on scoobynet and he is unsure wether to buy!
any help or feedback appreciated please

Its a JDM WRX, not even an STI

...I think some of these a Semi automatic gear boxes too.
I would say your mate would be crazy to buy it, absolutely nuts. He will never be able to sell it. If he wants an MY01 he should look through the private ad's and get himself one with a PPP already fitted.
It does not appear to be a bargain at all, in fact I would say it a rip off.

If its a C type (new shape), which has upgraded suspension, 4pot/2pot (OK, not the greatest, but better than 2p/1p on many prev bug eye WRXs), and lots ofother goodies, then it maybe worth a good look. They go like the showers - not got the ridiculous top end of the STi, but the response of the engine is even better around town.
If it is a bugeye, then only the WRX NB-R got the decent suspension & brakes, but the ride was bone shaking!
C type STi would be better though...
