PPP fitted properly ?
#1
As I understand it, the STI7/STI8 PPP comprises 3 parts. A high flow cat, a Sports Silencer and a revised Engine Management System. Now, experience with main dealers of various marques over the years has made me very cynical and as such I have to ask this question. Are there any outward signs that all 3 component parts of the PPP have been installed and not simply left as standard ? It would seem to me that people like myself who've never owned a Scoob before and are having a PPP fitted to a new car before they pick it up are potentially open to unscrupulous goings-on. A simple visual confirmation would give welcome peace of mind.

It would be simple for a nefarious main dealer to show you parts of any of the cars it sells IMHO. You wouln't necessarily be looking at anything removed from your own car. Likewise it would be easy for an uninitiated punter to be convinced that a part they can see fitted to their pride and joy is "new"....especially when dealing with something as anonymous as an EMS revision. I'm glad you had a positive experience yourself though.

Scratch an identifiable mark on all the exhaust parts, check they are on the parts they return to you.In all honesty I cannot imagine a reputable main dealer doing this, their franchise is worth more than that.

The rear silencer for a start looks completely different - Its slightly larger with Prodrive embossed in the tailpipe - The rest of the exhaust should be pretty easy to spot also. I'm not sure exactly about the ECU as I've not checked mine, but it may have a sticker on it or something?
If you drive it at 60 is sixth and press the throttle and it starts to accelerate then its pretty likely to have the PPP ecu!

If your car pulls like a train all the way the red line its been PPP'd, if the power finishes at 6.5k it hasn't.
By the way, all of the exhaust system is changed not just the rear pipe.
Hope it helps.

Well, why not ask for all the replaced parts back, as apart from the ECU, all the remainder "belongs" to you anyway, otgherwise, your fitting dealer is really getting a bargain, being able to at least "sell on" the rear box if nothing else!!
Components fitted are:
1/ Replacement ECU
2/ Front turbo high flow downpipe with wrap around heat bag fitted.
3/ second cat pipe [to high flow] but heat sheilds swopped over.
4/ replacement rear silencer.
End of story............
Any reputable dealer would of offered you the parts back anyway, mine did!

Oopps thought it was the lot - all I know is that I did have a lots of bits to bring home after my conversion whic only just fitted into the boot.
Looks like front down pipe, centre bit and back pipe.

(WRX PPP) I assumed they'd changed my ECU as I'd only taken in one set of keys, and as predicted my other set no longer worked. In addition to the original back box, and cat, I only got one bit pipe back from under the bonnet, a black drainpipe like section with three holes in...was this correct? I'd previously thought that they changed three separate hoses.
