As above. The step-son is 21 soon and his parents are thinking of clubbling together to sort him a drive on a race track.
He's a Saxo VTR driver so he'll no-doubt want to experience something a little quicker.
Anyone done the WH Smiths Ferrari one?
Or the 6-Supercar experience as in the back of Evo mag?
Or any other suggestions/recommendations would be good, with prices please.

I bought Mrs C the Boots 'Ultimate Driver's Choice' experience for Christmas - £160. It gives the recipient the choice of a single seater, Caterham or Lotus Elise on track, a rally car (loose surface), or an off-road course (Land Rover). I figured that it gave a wide enough range of options that the chances of my having got it wrong were reduced

Ok boring suggestion, Thruxton & I guees other circuits do a course to Improve your driving, It consists of a session on public roads in your car with an experienced instructor which teaches youngsters to drive safely & what hasards to look out for followed by an afternoon session on the skidpan where you have the choice of using your own car or the circuits.
I agree not as glamorus as a Ferrari (which I know at Thruxton are detuned via a lower rev limiter)but he would actually learn things useful for the road as well as having fun. Personally I think the Ferrari days are a rip, you dont get many laps, its all over too quickly, I have seen a couple of disapointed people following such ae "experience"

I did the "supercar experience" day at Thruxton and it was great.
I drove six laps in an MGF while lurning racing lines etc, then six in a Boxter, six in a Modena, then six in a formula Ford, followed by six laps in a formula Renault single seater, which was the best of all, with slicks and wings for REAL downforce effect, the cornering speeds possible in that thing are fantastic!
Add in the serious driving tuition, the fun, friendly atmosphere, the assessment of your driving skil and improvement, plus the freed drinks and biscuits all day, and I thought it was well worth it. I have done this twice now, the earlier one had a 355 instead of the Modena, and that was even better! You do sit alonside the
cars owner on the track, but he encourages you to "go for it."
Also, Thruxton is I believe the fastest circuit in the country, and is great fun to drive round, with a great chicaine.

I *think* you have to be 25 before you can do those packages in WHSmith's. You would need to check on the box.
