Hi all
I don't know if any one has come across this site of heard of the car but apparently there is a guy in Australia with a 2.5 Twin Turbo Classic WRX pushing out 550BHP. He has timed the quarter mile at 10.7.
Check out www.pms.net.au

Hi Guys.
I have just seen the silver 2,5 scooby in a Aus magasine called Fastfour it´s 550hp on the motor and 390hp on the wheels.
1/4 mile:10,7sec/131mph peak boost 26psi/1,8bar.
It´s got two Garret GT25BB turbos!!
Just for info!!!.

Well - Tony Rigoli has a car that has over 550bhp - AT THE WHEELS!
Although it has N2O and they run it in a low gear which gives lower losses (second or a very short third) from looking at the graph - so maybe 'only' 600bhp at the flywheel.
If you got to the Rigoli site you can download their world record run for a manual WRX - 10.02s/145mph - I am sure they would have broken 10 without the weight of the camera in the car. This car does NOT have N2O.
They have serveral runs around the 10s mark. The other Rigoli brother has an automatic that has done 9.71s. This car also does not have N2O
BTW - 550bhp at the crank should produce more than 390bhp at the wheels even in a higher gear than the Rigolis run.

Why does everyone go on about the Rigoli car?
It's a drag car.
And it's slower than the drag Honda Civics. Which are 2wd.
And front wheel drive.
Relevance to road cars is pretty much zero.
Now matter how much you dream Trout

Craig,
well I could say I have driven a Scooby with over 500bhp - but who would believe me - and it was a very tractable road car.
Everyone here dreams about cars like this - and when they are real - no-one believes them.
Can't win.

I can verify Trouts driving the 500++ as I also was priviledged to drive one and I was amazed how tractable it was - my wife could drive it to Sainsburys ! (but she would not overtake like I did !!)
Tootling around town at less than 2K - great.
When everyone has got over the unreliabilty glitches, and we have some sensible mileages from these monsters I'll upgrade to a 2.5
