Not to sure with the warranty situation where you are based, but if you have lost it then in my opinion the ECUtek/exhaust change would have been a better choice in regards of price/performance. That's of course the above is widely available?
The PPP is still a great choice though.

When u take into account the warranty still being intact I think that makes it very good VFM. Especially considering other option like a Full Decat and ECUTek remap.

The main downsides is the danger to your license.
My fuel economy is UP by 1-2Mpg, Insurance increased by 10 quid a month, but the overall difference it's made to the car is staggering.
The alternatives may give you the same increases for less money, but to be honest that's more than made up for by the warranty factors, the increase in residual values(usually PPP=+£1000 come trade in. therefore cost of PPP=£1000) and the kudos of having your car fettled by the same company as do the rally car.

Can I gatecrash this thread a little. I want PPP but I understand that their is still long wait. I heard that some people have taken their STi's to Prodive in Banbury to have fitted. Anyone have more info on this method?

Just had mine done this week and very happy with the result. Car in for 3 days as they sent my ECU off to Prodrive but as I was out of the country no problem. Saved myself a couple of months waiting for one of the spare ECUs to become available.

I was offered three options by my dealer "lancasters in sevenoaks".
1. Join the waiting list
2. leave the car with us and send the ecu to prodrive whilst we fit the exhaust.
3. We arrange it with Prodrive and you drive the car to them.
I chose option 2

I am buying the following for my 217 bhp standard Impreza GT:
- Pre-Programmed Programmable ECU with LCD
- decat exhaust and decat downpipe
- IHI 18G turbine kit
Gives 340 bhp. Total cost incl. VAT and discount is £3300.
PPP is £2000.
Take your pick

Claudius did you mean 240bhp as you wont get 340bhp from a setup like that unless you have left loads of bits off. Well maybe for about 5 miles at 25psi .

That setup has repeatedly given 340 bhp running 1.4 bars of boost. In fact, with a little more and some timing, it could make 380, but that may not be too reliable.
In fact, I will probably only run 1.3 bars and advance the timing say 10 deg under WOT, lean it out a bit while measuring AFR and EGT as I always do on my cars. Or may I'll just run 1.5 bars until the damn thing breaks LOL

i prefer to be sure that my engine will last a lot!!!
I'm pretty sure your dealer will say "non conosciamo sta centralina, non c'è più garanzia " if you hit problems. I know these Italian people too well I can see that an English person wants to keep his warranty because he's afraid the engine and gearbox will break, but you as an Italian are very inabituale, my friend. Hope all goes well.
Ciao

NO DOUBT PPP IS THE BEST MOD FOR AN STI V7 -- IS IT WORTH 2K -- YES - IS IT WORTH TRYING TO GET THE SAME PERFORMANCE ON SAVE 1K AND LOSE WARRANTY AND FINAL RESALE VALUE - NO. PPP IS TOTALLY FABULOUS - WELL I THINK SO

There are no downsides. Forget price etc, these cars are "toys" and as with any hobby there is a certain amount of expense to get the most enjoyment.
My STi7 has been totally transformed into a stunning car, no more narrow power band bewteen 3k and 6k just full on, s**t loads of power all across the rev range. You'll now have to re-set your shift lamp/buzzer at the red line.
Ask your dealer to ring and book you in at Pro-Drive I do not believe its a secret. I took mine up before Xmas and I was very satisfied with the service etc. I'm feeling far happier having the mods carried out by the guys who devised it.
Good luck in getting your PPP soon.

Claudius - any info on the 18G turbo please? You must be pushing those (presumably) 440cc injectors to their limit? Presumably you have a fuel pump upgrade at least?
Are you talking about the MoTeC ECU with the dash display?

Hi John,
remember when I told you about this on the MLR?
I cannot remember the exhaust size if that's what you mean. My tuner has done this setup many times before and can therefore confirm the reliability and achieved performance.
The turbine kit is an APEX'i IHI one, the ECU is an APEX'i Power FC. The boost control isnt the best, but given the nature of the turbo (relatively big volume and relatively low boost) it is more than enough. An AVC-R would be more precise, but added to the ECU, it will start to get expensive. If I use an S-AFC instead of the ECU, I wont be able to adjust the timing and fuel control will be less precise, and boost higher. That's why I decided on this ECU. A valuable addition is the LCD display with knock, ign timing, etc display, as you probably know.
Let me know if you need more info
