Track days / warranty.... check this out!!
#1
Carrying on from other threads re IM and warranty capers.....
There was an article in a well known weekly car mag re a BMW owner who's M3 went pop following a light track day. The repair bill was £4000 BMW refused to pay. It was a flywheel locating pin which came loose resulting in new clutch, gearbox and flywheel. After a bit of perseverance (via lawyers) BMW GB paid out.
Further to this the mag checked with some of our track day favs, re track days and warranty, TRUST ME YOU WILL BE VERY SURPRISED...
Mitsubishi - "They are outside the scope of the warranty. It's quite clear"
Porsche - "There's no specific difference for track days. If there's a manufacturing fault we will replace it"
Honda - "It's a grey area. The cars are designed for road not track use"
.........and the grand finale........'
Subaru - "It is only right that we cover drivers if things go wrong"
HEARD IT!!!
This must be in the brochure for sales pi*h, sorry pitch.
Small print = "once dumbass customer has parted with money, any means possible will be used to invalidate warranty and make sure they don't come back"

Saw that too - thought it must have been a misprint! Maybe someone ought to write to Steve Sutcliffe or Steve Fowler at Autocar and advise them on IM's duplicity.....

Or take it as face value, keep a copy of the article & use it to prove your point if something untoward happens...
But don't go bleating if your car is caged, FMIC, Dawes'd & thrashed on track @ every opportunity
I think it has been established that as long as you don't take the p1$$ then IM will honour the warranty. FFS Stef on 3rd gearbox & 2nd engine after warranty I would class as taking the P, though IM covered him.
So, be realistic and you'll be OK.

Lets put it this way, I have attended 3 track events organised by Subaru and their dealers. These events had MY00's,P1's and STI UK's trashed round the track by the general public and professional drivers to show what the cars could do.
And what do they do with the cars used, yes put them up for sale all with full warranties!!!
Tell you something??
This can only prove the above comment.
