Question

open question -

any H6 owners tried modding their cars - eg zorst, ECU, wheels etc?

i'd be interested to hear what difference 17" wheels brings to the handling, particularly with regard to body roll through corners.

any general comments from owners with regard to opinions of the car?
cheers.

H6 engine should have some potential for tuning, as should shocks springs and importantly brakes, if only they turbocharged it.....now that would be something to behold!

funny you should mention it but i was told at the motor show that a sequential twin turbo version of the H6 engine is being developed for the impreza (poss MY2005); plus the standard H6 mill will be going in the forester.

don't know if it's true but a sequential turbo H6 engine (presumably light pressure turbos?) should be good for 300+brake and 300+lb ft torque - with plenty of room for development.

we shall see.

Thumbs up

And the rest... if the 2.0l is good for 250bhp and 250lbft without major mods, then the 3.0l H6 should be good for 350+bhp and lbft Now that would scare the Porkers

Bell & Colvill do an H6 with a custom exhaust, alcons, big wheels etc... They may sell the exhaust separately, no harm in asking, speak to Nito or Roger on 01483-281000.

Apparently it revs freer with just a backbox change.
FYI - the exhaust looks just like the Prodrive 3.5".

My boss has an H6 - i recently burrowed it to drive down to the south of france. It's a really comfortable car, and a good motorway cruiser. It has a resonable amout of go, and is good for 130+mph. After the STi , it seems to roll and wallow a bit in the corners, but levels of grip are very good and a bit of gas gets it round the bends. my main critisisms are that the auto 'box is pretty crude, altho' it does the job. also, with pirited driving on continental motorways it only returned marginally better mpg than my STi7. This meant gas stops every 290 - 300 miles, which i find a bit irritating. They could do with putting a bigger tank on it. another plus was 10 cases of wine fitted easily in the back, and it felt very secure when the road was covered in ice. BMs and Mercs were sliding all over the place.

Charlie.

thanks dr.evil

propercharlie - odd thing about the tank. manual says 67 litres but i've never got more than 55 in even after pushing it well onto reserve for 315 miles.

when all's said and done, it's mud-plugging jacked estate. i find the autobox really smooth, but then again, i've never owned an automatic before so have little to compare it with. bad weather manners are impeccable.

not missing the impreza at all. nor are my kidneys.
