Hi guys and gals,

Not sure what forum to put this on so please mods leave it here for a few.

Me and the family are looking to visit the UK for about 10 days.

We are going to start off in London for a 2 - 3 nights. Then we will proceed to drive to Essex (where the UK family lives) stay there for 2 nights.

Then we want to drive up to Ireland. We are thinking of taking 2 days to make the journey and stop off at fun / exciting places on the way.

Any suggestions where to start looking for packages or anyone have any suggestions of what route to take and what cool / fun things to see or do on the way ?

I would also like to rent a 911 at somepoint on the journey and follow behind the family car on the way to Ireland....is this possible ?

Any ideas, info, links etc would be appreciated.

Cheers,
Ray

If your gonna get 2 Ireland via Liverpool then drive up from Essex towards Warminster -loads of good little roads- then to Cheddar Gorge (amazing twisty roads) then through Wales to Liverpool to Ireland. You will drive some of the best roads in the UK.

Unfortunately I will not have my car (Don't think I can ship it from the Bahamas ) and if I rent a 911 it will only be for a day or so. This is not really a driving vacation but a family one.

Keep the idea coming.

Thanks,
Ray

Ray do you like theme parks there a great one called Alton Towers on the way from Essex to Liverpool and has its own hotel. Best bit its only about 1.5 hours from Liverpool so easy to catch your ferry to Ireland.

http://www.alton-towers.co.uk/

Should keep the family amused for at least a day.

BTW, give us an idea of where in Essex (it's a fairly big place) and what kind of things you mean when you say "fun" places?

Wink

If you take the ferry to Ireland from Heysham (by Lancaster), you could stop of at the Isle of Man for a few laps

I think u can ship ur car from the Bahamas & use it temporarily in the UK (dunno abt Ireland tho), as long as ur car's # plate is in English alphabets & numerical numbers. I think u can find info on this in HM's Customs website.
I have seen cars driving around London with Dubai & US plates.

nah m8 you only get shot if u is involved the in current in house fued between certain paramilitary organisations or you is caught as a drug dealer, or you involve yourself in the anti-social behaviours of joyriding or housebreaking. then again you could be in the wrong place at the wrong time but then again the same thing could happen in Nassau(Hmmmm.... maybe not).

Belfast is absolutely nowhere near as bad as the CNN broadcasts make it out. Long gone is the live footage of "War torn Belfast steets". its getting to be a right little metropolis, with lots to see and do. what else can i say about Northern Ireland apart from its very green and it's God's own country.

cheers

big sinky

ps. I don't matter what time of the year it is, in June or January if they ain't covered up they will drop off m8
