Mods please can you leave this here for a couple of hours - thanks

One of my collegues bought a pc from an ebay auction.

The company (aroms) auction off pc's that are quite good spec for quite good money (still talking 700+ pounds). They can slightly change the spec as well, so you could say they build a machine for you.

At the time they mostly were selling goods on Ebay, however we cannot see anymore from the same user. However, they do have a website: www.aroms.biz

The money for the pc was paid by cheque back in November - and the company has been giving excuses saying next week etc. They are now not returning his emails, and the phone never seems to answer.

I was wondering if anyone is close to either of the following addresses, to see if they are infact real or fake? One address is in London, the other is in The Netherlands.

UK Office
Aroms
95 Wilton Road
Suite 3
London, SW1V 1BZ
United Kingdom
Phone: +44 (70) 9235 2342
Fax: +44 (70) 9239 1867
email : sales@aroms.biz
web : www.aroms.biz

Dutch Office
Aroms
De Wurdze 10
8561 JD Balk
The Netherlands
Phone : +31 (514) 603379
Fax: + 31 (514) 604633
email : sales@aroms.biz
web : www.aroms.biz

If you could let me know on your findings, and if you know any more information please kindly forward it on.

Many thanks,
Christian

Unhappy

As I explain on the equivalent thread on 22B.com, that London address is a Mailboxes, etc. virtual forwarding address.

Well I have doubts about the quality of their website, American spellings etc. Also their address is very near Victoria Station I think, and I suspect it is serviced offices, but might be wrong.

I'd have a look at the Companies House website if I were you, and I'd think about contacting the Police or the Local Trading Standards.

eBay have a department for this kind of thing also. They do not take fraud kindly and do reimburse for lose in certain cases. They will then tackle the offender themselves if you are unable to resolve it.

It's worked for me before.

I have just had a look on Companies House - sorry mate there not a limited company by the name of Aroms.

If it is a Partnership or Individual, there will be not official record of them, unless you know a friendly Tax Inspector in London who might be able to check.

Good luck

Sad this.
I got a pc from ebay last year from a company which sounds similar in type to this one. Called, emailed, faxed wrote to them after I had not rec'd it after 3 weeks.
Started to worry so really made a pain of myself and told them I would send some friends around to pick it up. This seemed to work & I rec'd the goods. When I tried to contact them 2 weeks later for some info they had gone. I don't know whether bust or done a runner. The PC was part of a Dutch auction which I have since found out are dodgy as its a good way to get lots of cash in at once & then disappear.
Hope your m8 does'nt lose out.

Christian,

95 Wilton Road is a residential address. Check for Voters Roll information. Cant go into any detail due to Data Protection restrictions.

Hope this helps.

As Carl has already said the London address is a Mailboxes etc.,.. shop

http://www.mbe.uk.com/service_centres/regional_listings/London/london_main.htm#026

This is basically a private PO Box address so the company will not physically be there.

It might be worth speaking to the manager of this branch of Mailboxes to see if Arom have a long term contract for their mailbox or just one or twoo months. The Mailboxes shop in Marylebone is very helpful so worth a go.

Good luck

Robin

if you feel the site is fake or misleading you can call there ISP and ask it be taken off and they may even be able to contact details (if the police get involved). There ISP/SERVER IP address is 207.150.221.95, i will look to see if this is an ISP for you.

Christian,
May I suggest you get in touch with the nearest main sorting office to that area, I beleive it to be Paddington, but I could be wrong, I work for Royal Mail as a postman, and the main sorting office should have a full address for these people, I am off work at the Moment, otherwise one of my friends could have traced the address, mail me offline with some more details and I'll have a word with my friend who is in the I.B. (post office police we call them).
Cheers

When the mail is sorted, it goes into the said P.O.box and the address is held on computer for their records and for any problems that may arise, had a simular problem myself gave my mate the P.O. box number and he got me the address in about 30 secs.

It's not a PO Box. It's a mailbox provided by a company called "Mailboxes, etc."

They will be the only people with a record of the company's whereabouts, as they know where they'll be sending the mail. Are you suggesting they inform the Post Office of the details of each of their customers?

I'm often near Wilton Road. I could pop in and see if they divulge the forwarding address if you like.

I'm sure if it was this easy to disguise your real address, they would have changed the law by now. This is why the Post Office now release the full address of any PO Box on request.
