cud get hold of a Racelogic box of tricks - bluetacks to yer dash and uses giroscopes to calculate 1/4 mile, 0-60, g-force and other stuff. borrowed one a few weeks back - v clever !

have a look on their website, url is obvious but dont spring to mind right now...
