Hello, new Bloke Here! The shame of it is that now i've got the Type RA (we've spent two happy weeks together) I still can't make sense of what the Centre Diff Control actually does. Is it locking up the front/rear bias? With the diff set anywhere other than "free", reversing and/or tight turns are a no no. Should it be making a fairly horrible noise on lock?
Any advice welcome!

Keep it to its minimum level unless rallying on gravel/snow.

Otherwise its expensive, eh Dave?

Keep rolled back in the dry.
Light drizzle, not enough to wet the road...keep it rolled back, all the way.

Drizzle necessitating the windscreen wiper "intermittent" then one notch forward.

Continuous slow wipers.........2 notches forward.

ultras fast wipers 3 notches forward i.e. into the orange!

On gravel, sand, snow lock it up baby

This is my personal opinion if you crash your car, it is your fault etc!

Always roll it all the way back for slow speed turns and reversing or it will sound like it is breaking!

Don't worry James has his wires crossed - he is referring to an incident with no oil, extremely high speeds and big-end failure (and pretty much toasting the rest of the engine) - THAT was expensive. Look after your car and it will look after you etc etc,
Centre diff - i basically kept it all the way back (green) unless it was pi$$ing down with rain or i was driving like a loonatic in which case i would move it forward two notches. It's very easy to forget to move it back when you come in to stop but you'll soon find out when it appears that the engine is jumping around in the engine bay!!!!

I must apologise for not getting it quite correct. It was the fact that coming so soon after the oil episode, that the scoob was trailered back to your dealer over banging noises from the transmission that made me think you'd made a horlicks of it

When using the manual diff , Is there ever a setting that would make the car feel or handle like a normal uk Scooby???

My Type R has that feature but i,m loathed to touch it ...I,d break it anyhow.
