Unhappy

... just returning from a 'booze cruise' to Calais having stocked up for the Xmas session and was happily sitting on the Eurostar home.

Train arrived at Folkestone and I tried to fire up the engine to find it absolutely dead. Had to push the damn thing all the way along the train and, thankfully, I was on the top deck so I managed to jump start it when I ran down the ramp. ( thanks to all the people who helped me push her ... NOT!!!... including the car right behind me with 4 blokes in it who all sat and watched me & the missus sweat buckets.

Anyway, why did this happen ???

<Red face mode on>
Throughout the journey I foolishly had the radio on, shouldn't have been a prob, but then I realised that I had the ignition fully on with the A/C turned on as well!!!
<Red face mode off>

The question is, would this be enough to drain the battery on a 30 min journey (& 15 mins waiting) .. or ... is there a problem with either the electrics or the battery. When I tried to turn the engine over all I could hear were relays clicking.

Once fired up everything ran fine other than the clock had reset itself.

Stupidity flame suit on ...

Thumbs up

A/C would be enough to flatten the battery

45 minutes with the A/C on is definitely enough to drain a battery. Wouldn't worry about it too much cuz it won't do it any harm (apart from having to reset all your radio stations

I had a problem with the battery constantly draining on a clio once. Took me about 2 weeks to figure it out. After a few weeks of messing around with a voltmeter it turned out the switch on the boot lid for the boot light was bent. The tiny little bulb in the boot was enough to drain the battery overnight.

I just happened accross it when i charged the battery, put it back in the car and went out to see if it had lost it's charge later that night and spotted light coming from under the parcel shelf. doh!!

Battery went flat what shape should it be (the old ones are
the best) seriously it's sad when no one helped, even more so
when a female was pushing as well. what goes round comes round.

Aircon doesn't work without the engine running - it's just the fans, and yes they'll flatten the battery
