Buying an Import...good idea??
#1
I've been offered an Mitsu-Evo 7 with only 8k on the clock for £20,995, thing is it's a jap import!
Can someone give me pro's and cons, and tell me a little bit about imports...anyone with experience in imported cars, whats different about it and a UK model?!?!
Ta!

Come on you guys - give the man a hand. Evo - nice motor, mucho respecto, but most of us have chosen summat else, by definition. See if you can find a really nice P1 for the money Scoobs generally not quite so manic in unmodded form, but better-riding on British Roads.
Never had an import, so can't help personally..... but I'm sure there'll be a number of threads about buying import Scoobs, which'll give some pointers. Try the Search function??
Good luck, whatever...
(Oh, and go easy on the throttle )

I have a grey import scoob, would I have another - yes if the price was cheaper and the spec a lot higher like my current car.

OK can't help with the EVO side of things, would second having a look and posting on the MLR as per the link above.
I too have a jap import scoob.
My advice?
Before you get it, make sure you have someone good to service it for you, plus get and insurance quote beforehand as well. Jap imports ARE harder to insure, unfortunately.
Make sure you get it from a reputable import agent as well.
Apart from that, enjoy! I got an import because it was in better condition with better spec than similiarly aged UK cars, oh and it was a darn sight cheaper as well
I'm also lucky that I have a very good local jap sports car specialist near me (Big thanks to Graham and Nathan at GDA Sports Cars) who looks after my car for me.

buy it if you're satisfied that its kosher. i would think you should be able to find a UK car for not much more than that though ~ gaz@cpp (cpp motor developments, macclesfield) is the man to speak to, he's usually lurking around here or the lancerregister. he's just bought an evo7 RS sprint and loads loads about them.
