They did a flat 12 engine for formula 1 quite a few years back. Not tremendously successful, often didn't qualify. That's the best I can think of.

do a search on google for Subaru single seater new zealand, some geezer over there tried setting up a one make series. Called the Stinger or something, used a flat 4 with transaxle, had the same idea myself for fitting in an XTR2 or similiar.

Cheers DocJock,Tuffer.Its the one my friend was on about. Both your ideas were the same car, Huw Jenjin's (Cute name!)car is from the geyser in NZ. He said they are sending it over to be converted for road and track use, like a rocket (whatever that is).
I think an F1 car would be a bit quick for me Hades, but this one looks quite like a Formula Ford car, which is a bit more my budget.
I quite like the idea of a racing car for fun, and would save ruining a good road car.
