(Kindly leave here for Thurs as I'm having the below job done tomorr)

They upload a map they have worked hard on to the EXISTING STi V ECU and do any minor re-map tweaks needed afterwards. Has anyone had this done, and how do you rate it?

It costs £850 and there's no hardware used. If Bill Gates could charge as much for his software, he'd be a very rich man indeed

It sounds like they have the ECUTEK software package.

Have a look at the www.ecutek.com website for full info on the product.

Power Engineering can also offer a similar service, as can John Banks (custom maps only).

You should also search the drivetrain forum here for comments on the ECUTEK re-maps. Most people seem to be reasonably happy with the outcome.

Yep, that's the one John.

Power Engineering (just round the corner) wouldn't touch an import, which is why I have to get up at 6 am tomorr! Respect their right to do this, if not quite their logic...

I'll trawl the forums meantime!

Cheers

Question

What do you mean PE wouldn't touch an import?

I thought there was a ECUTEK remap for a STi5?

I would always custom map an STi 5/6/P1, and I think all the other UK suppliers (Bob, GGR) would too.

Mega

There is an EcuTek for the STi V, but they just dont want to do it. I could say more, but basically they had a bad experience with a client's engine going BANG (pretty bad for him too!)! Now he is actually a good mate of mine and I know the story, but I was STILL willing for them to do it (I've heard nothing but good things about 'Merv' and spoke to him too). But they wouldn't touch it, despite my pleading, and 'willing to sign disclaimers' bleating...

If you want more, mail me offline...

John (halleluja)

Their map is already R&D'd for an STi V - to an extent that is much more than I could afford to pay for... They will then tweak individual vehicle issues if they become apparent - say with my 'less common' de-cat exhaust for example.

To me it sounds really good as all the engines come off the same production line, and I am getting the benefit of many months' mapping/research work, plus a little fine tuning if neccessary?

I am so concerned about No3 going BANG! And I just can't afford it! Kindly mail me offline if it's contentious and I really appreciate your input - if only you were closer
