On the price thing.. I was listening to the coverage of the Recent Rally in which the Scoob did rather well and I'm sure the commentator said something like £200,000 per car.
did I mis hear?
Midlife?

Yeah. If you want a 2001/2 spec Impreza WRC, you can buy one from Prodrive for £350K - complete with 2001 spec semi-automatic gearbox. Having said that though, you don't actually get to take the gearbox away with you.
Prodrive engineer turns up with box the day before the rally, fits it, maintains it on-event, then disappears back to Banbury with it at the end of the event.
FWIW, £200K will buy you a decent sequential shift Impreza WRC2000 nowadays. You'd need nearly as much again to run one for a season.

Sorry but where have you all been?
The pictures of next years rally car have been going around ince the Paris Motorshow.
There have been some photoshopped ones to show different colour schemes! I preferred the green on but others liked the purple.

Are you a Blackadder fan? (wibble) seriously though, I NEVER thought that the cars cost so much to run, they cost more than my house and they roll them over cliffs, into trees,.... . Thanx for the info.

Yeah, that's probably where wibble came from!
As far as running costs are concerned, general rule of thumb is to work out how much you think it's going to cost, then multiply by three. If a World Rally Car is involved, multiply by six...

really? That is very bizzare.

They don't want you taking the box home with you so you can reverse engineer or otherwise disassemble it.
We didn't enquire too closely, but I think you also have to pay Prodrive for the engineer's time in fitting, servicing and removing "your" box...
