How fast does it go!
#1
The top speed of my standard My99 Impreza Turbo is 144(I think),but how fast does it go really, on the flat not down hill.
Will it do 150mph?
Being a good citizen I never been above 80(cough).

In theory and having a road long enough your car should be capable of around 165mph (or there abouts) to the red line
Ive never tried it myself but if you want to then Germany is the place to do it, just watch out for the faster traffic thou, it catches you quicker than you think

Hi bumcrack,
I've also got a 99V Impreza in standard tune running on Super (it feels soooo slow with standard juice).
The car goes up to 130 really easily. I've had the car up to 145 with revs still left but unfortunatley not a long enough private road.

Only had my 'scoob' for a couple of weeks (MY99 5 door)
I've taken her up to 105 in 4th on the A24. Got to say it was still pulling, and I still had 5th to go :-o, but as this sort of speed is all new to me ...... I sh*ite out.
Doubt I'll ever go up to that speed again, unless it's on a track. Just wanted to see what she'll do.
A friend in an MY98 reckons he's had 153 downhill on the M27. No pictures to prove it, but I dare say it possible.

I Know the answer to this.
A police friend of mine used his car to calibrate some speeding equipment. His car clocked 154.2 miles per hour over a quarter mile stretch in a UK standard 4 door turbo, the Speedo was way off the dial by then.

Robin,
Its not just the speedo you go by, its the ammout of rpm you have left but ive had 120 out of my scoob in 4th with a bit left but ive got a PPP so it pulls better to the red line than a std turbo

I had 71mph once out of mine in 5th, on a motorway. I am sure it had some left though. It was daytime and i didn't want to risk going to much higher pulus I was getting a little nervy.

Mine is practically standard. I once did a 155 (on the speedo) in the slipstream of my friends scoob. The closer I got the faster I closed in on him but when I got alongside I couldn't get passed him. I was really sticking at his rear bumper at 155mph! Pure madness, I know... I promise it'll never happen again! really I do! My passenger old me I did 155 at one time as I didn't really have time to check the speedo.
On a very long stretch downhill I once hit the limiter. It was at 160 - 165mph or so but that was less exiting
btw, I have some HUGE private roads in my backyard

Ima,
when you put down your R/C cossie and get a real car you will understand what gear ratio's are and what the car is capable of but as you still only have one gear on the R/C you will never know

Imatrukas - use BOTH of your brain cells and you'll notice the fact that the speeds mentioned are generally ON THE SPEEDO.
Assuming a 10% over-read, and the effect of some of the mods, an indicated speed of 165 mph is quite possible.
Take your attitude elsewhere.

The most important force at hight speeds is the drag of the car passing through the air.
I have heard it said that a 10mph tail wind would be worth almost the full 10mph at the sort of speeds you guys are talking about.
A head wind would of course have the opposite effect.

I have clocked 255kmh in my MY00 scoob on the autobahn but not sure what the margin of error is on the speedo.
I have a Scoobysport DP, ITG PF, T74 backbox and 17" wheels.
Don't know how much extra ooooomph this lot gives but I was more than happy with the performance and so was the dude in the BMW who was trying to keep up.

Your missing 2 things there Tony
1. wind resistance
2. Engine power
With these two factors i don't think you would get a standard/lightly modified scoob to reach the cut-out in 5th.It would just come to a point when the engine could'nt make it go any faster and you would hit a terminal brick wall
