I own a my97 uk turbo but I've always thought about buying an sti v5 coupe 97>, the only thing that puts me off is the lack of support. I understand uk subaru dealers won't touch them but I dont really know of any specialists in the glasgow - ayrshire area that I would trust. Sure there are several south of the border with good reputations but none really up here.

Plus there the issue with the history, parts and depreciation...
still I would still love one.....in sonic blue.

Anyone here had any mayjor problems with japanese imports ?

I've had a couple of sti's now with the current one being an sti5 Type-r and touch wood i've had no real worries apart from an addiction to constantly filling up then emptying the tank!!
There are plenty of specialist garages who in my personal experience offer a better level of service and knowledge than the main dealers, but some of the main dealers are now servicing imports if you would prefer.
With my hand on heart, I don't think i'll ever go back to UK price and spec cars again
If your buying second hand talk to Mega-Stream as he's just been through this process and found himself a corking sti5 RA, so he can give advice etc.

Just my two pence worth.

Oh...and Type-r's really are stunning cars

cheers gixerman, I went to look at a couple but they were snapped up pretty quickly. There are plenty of saloons but jumping to an import it would need to be a coupe.
