Please somebody help me!
I was on my wat home from work and at the bottom of this hill there was a huge puddle! thought i would have a bit of fun and hammer it through so i did! it was fun :-) scoob held real well!!!
THEN when i put my foot down again my scoob would not go over 4000 revs without coughing and spluttering and the check engine light has come on! what do i do??? :-(

Just a thought,
You may have sucked up enough water into the induction system to possibly knacker the MAF sensor.
Cross your fingers and hope normal service is resumed when it dries out.

If it is still running the internals are probably ok and the bulk of the water long gone.
The check engine light stuck on is due to one of the sensors playing up. Its probably the MAF sisnce it directly behind the air filter (cost around £300 if my memory is correct). Although less likely it may also be water in the vacuum pipes upsetting the pressure sensor.
What year is your car? earlier ones used a hot wire MAF which is a lot more robust than the later film type.

No Sorry not jokin but I personally think that the huge bill was due to the fact that it was a company car and the Main dealer just said F&^k it and replaced a load of gubbins. Hope yours turns out to be just a glitch and not a Mass Air Flow Sensor.

Sounds as if you had a lucky escape.Anyone who's familiar with Heeley Bottom bridge in Sheffield will know that a very deep puddle forms after rain and a guy drove through it in his Xedos 9.Bye bye engine-a mate worked in the nearby Mazda garage(now gone)and saw the car when it came in.I never drive through deep puddles and even turn round and go the long way round if I have to as I don't want to risk it.

My Uncle done this a few months ago,as Muppet Paster rightly said, the engine "hydraulics" ,the water is in the cylinder and has to go somwhere, doesn't compress like air and fuel, hence broken con-rods and a warped head.
Cost him just 0ver £2k,so in future leave the big puddles to the WRC boys.

If you've hydraulic locked the engine [ water got in the cylinders]] it's possible that you might bend a con rod. Not really serious just needs a new rod but with Subaru's the last thing you get to when taking the engine apart is the rods and crank. Plenty-o-labour but cheap partswise.
Follow the advice so far and dry out the bits. Get the Limp mode cancelled at a dealer and see what happens. If power appears down then a compression test will tell you if a rod is bent. If it is call us [ API Engines Ltd 01926 614333 - David ] we can work something out for you. AND if it IS bent drive it no more, because if it breaks a biggo billo will appear and spoil your Xmas.

hi guys!
i was lucky this time! fixed it myself! Dried the air filter! disconnected my battery for a hour and its back to normal!
Weird thing is i have ralled my scoob a few times on WELL muddy tracks where water has gone up well over the car before! Took hours to clean though but worth it for the fun! going side ways lots and spraying mud into the sky :-) wont be going through anymore big puddles though! this time i was lucky
