Question

Call me stupid!
But how do you change your gear **** on a My01. I've unscrewed it but it is still attached to the gaiter and I don't want too brutal with it in case I break, snap or tear something.
I've seen a nice Momo one which match my wheel in Halfords

Thank you in advance

Is it a Race Air, Leather and Aluminium by any chance ? Thats probably the most popular gear **** for Subarus, I put mine on about a month ago.

After unscrewing the standard gear **** there is a little plastic ring at the bottom of the gear **** that clips inside the gaiter. Just pull the gear **** away or use a non sharp object and lever the gaiter off all the way around.

Nathan,
Your spot on in terms of the ****.
When you put the new one on, do you have to do anything fiddly with the gaiter and plasic clip thing or is it quite self explainatry?

cheers

J uk
P.S. your right, I did ask for it!

Jason

The MOMO gear **** comes with full instructions but basically it goes as follows.

1. Push the gaiter down as far as you can. There is a small tapered Momo ring that should now be put on the stick.

2. There is a pack of plastic covers in various sizes that you put over the screw thread at the top of the gear stick to stop it from getting damaged and to make a good fit for the new gear ****.

3. Slide the new gear **** on and push it down hard as far as it will go.

4. On the gear **** are three holes for enclosed grub screws. Use the short ones and screw these into the holes and tighten making sure the gear **** is straight.

5. The Momo ring that was put on the stick earlier will now screw on the base of the gear **** hiding the grub screws.

6. Lift the gaiter up and it will self support on the tapered Momo ring. If not a small amount of glue will hold it. (Mine has stayed up fine)

The good thing is that it shortens the throw of the gearstick nicely aswell.

Go on buy it, you wont regret it.

Cheers
