I have ordered a 4 door 2002 WRX. The importer has just rung me to say that Subaru (Belgium) want another £800 for a 2002 spec model.
Does anyone know what the changes are compared to the 2001 model.
Has anyone any details on the 2002 spec, I can't find them on the web?

The only difference is that it comes with a bee-sting aerial at the rear, rather than a manual one on the A pillar.

try keyring cars or litchfield imports.
the cars usually go up in price in aug/sept i am told. i am importing from begium and mine went up £600 but it depends what nice little extras you have had put on i guess.
still a bargain though my02 wrx with metalic blue is working out at about £15500 (incl vat)

Hey Navigator
Old question but what is the insurance like on a Belgium import? a lot more than a UK car?
Cheers

EU imports should cost exactly the same to insure as UK dealer supplied cars.

I went from a UK supplied MY97 to a EU MY00 and actually got a rebate from my insurers - seemed a bit strange but I think it was because the later car had a CAT 1 alarm.

Cheers,

Ian.

tomee, When did you order you car? From what I understand the prices for the MY02 model was only announced a month ago. Yes the price has gone up

Funkii Munkii, A MY02 is around 21k Euros + UK VAT. Last time I went looking for insurance it made no difference it was a parallel import and not a UK sourced call. There have been some reports of people not being quoted or higher quotes but I expect this is caused by the dumb blond sat at the other end of the phone.

Got a quote on my current MY99 and a MY02. The MY02 was cheaper. Both have Cat 1 alarms.

As evo5uk said, the only difference people are aware of is the aerial has moved. Can't afford an STi

So goes anyone have a UK/Euro MY02 car yet? Think it a bit early.

Cool

funkii munkii insurance is the same as its a paralell import.
After all its a uk car which arrives in rotterdam instead of tilbury so the insurance should be the same.
hope that helps

I got the quote from,
Access Car Consultants International, Suite A03-A05, Lambard Business Park, 8 Lombard Road, Wimbledon, SW19 3TZ.
They quoted £16,263.21p. Including finders fee, 12 month road tax, UK registration and number plates. That excluded the addition fee (£800). But good for you, they are all delivered to the office in Wimbledon.

I ordered the car about 10 weeks ago. I only found out about the price hike recently. I had heard stories of imports, including parallel imports, that have come in without the rear spoiler. I have been assured that mine will be fitted.
I have also found out that UK cars are undersealed and have their Cat1 alarms fitted after arrival in the UK.
The Japs didn't have a problem with them being stolen (until recently anyway) and I believe that they don't have our glorious weather and so don't need the underseal.

Who did you get your insurance qoute from? You could save me some serious phoning around at Christmas when my new toy gets delivered.

Got a quote for both MY02 + MY99 from elephant.co.uk just to compare the difference. The MY99 is a company car so do not need to worry about insurance MY02 will be private with Tescos offering the cheapest quote.

On the insurance front try 'What car insurance' there gave me a good quote and it didn't matter if it's a uk or import, as long as your import is uk spec.
Good service too.

I have read, (but can't remember where), that they are:
- changing the alloys
- re-shaping the front and
- putting in a 6 speed box.
Can anyone clarify?
