Going to do an oil change at week end. First one i have done, so is it a nut or alan key affair ?

Also what size is it ?

Anything else i need to know ?

its a nut, 14mm or 18mm i can never remember, if u've a good socket set u wont be stuck, u might as well do the filter too, (genuine Subaru is reccomended) I use Castrol RS 10w-60,

if u have an MY99 or late, u will have to undo the poxy undershiled, 6 nuts and 2 clips, but easy to do

u will need 4.5liters with a filter change... remeber to prime (fill up) the filter b4 u fit it, it will take at least 1/2 a liter so take ur time

Yes aggree it is 17mm or something.. the undershield refitting takes the most time.. and I usually get really annoyed at it..

Also worth getting a new sump plug washer whilst you are at the dealers getting a filter.. washer is something like 75p and filter 12pounds IIRC..
