Well, the Scooby went to the body shop today for it's wing replacement after some w@nker in a pickup rammed me last week. I've been given a Mondeo 2.0 as a courtesy car I'd forgotton just what a great machine the Imprezza is, but after just 15 miles I've been thoroughly reminded... I have to get used to:
> No torque. Completely gutless performance, ugh
> No turbo. Nothing to make up for lack of torque further up.
> No traction. Trying to do a swiift right turn in front of on-coming cars (which I would not think twice about in the Scoob) the wheels just span leaving me stranded in thier path (almost)
> Wooly steering. Does not inspire confidence at all.
> Poor ventilation. windows mist up constantly and interior feels damp.
> Brakes crap. No feel to them and no ABS.
Well, those are the initial impressions All in all I don't feel safe at all and look forward getting shot of it asap. It's an awful bl00dy thing
Are all fords that cr@p, Co55ie?!

Tell me about it. Mine went in three weeks ago and they gave me a citroen picaso 1.6. What a nightmare. I kicked up a fuss and got upgraded to a Alfa 156 1.8. What a difference. Far quicker than the citroen but still nearly 200bhp short of mine. It even had traction control, dont know what all that is about.
Then to top it all of the insurance co rang me last fri and said that because it was going to take 4 weeks for the parts I had to return the hire car and use mine until the parts arrive

Before the Scoob I had an L-reg. 2Ltr. Mondeo from new which I modified quite a lot including a Power Engineering turbo conversion. Although it was a first generation Mondeo it was actually better built than the Scoob which is tinny by comparison.
Sure the scoob goes better, holds the road better but contrary to popular belief the sun does not shine out of its ****! There are better made cars out there, including the later generation Fords, it's just a different market! The term "Dagenham Dustbin" is out of date and totally inapplicable now.

I had a Lexus 200 as a loan'er last week (from a dealer )
Now THERE is an over-rated car!!!! £22K..... I know what I'd rather buy
Having said that, it was free, and wholly made me appreciate my new Scoob when I bought it!!!
Lexus = Leather armchair on (nice) wheels!!!

Fords are pretty cool
My first two cars were Fords, I certainly cannot fault the Puma except for the need of a bigger engine with more grunt and a slightly bigger chassis.
The ST24 and ST200 versions of the Modeo are not to be sniffed at!!!!

for two monthes whilst the scoob was in repairs, i had to drive one of our building firms cars! 1.8 gl sierra, e reg, 100 k - unbelieveably reliable! has never let me down all these years, shame its full of gravel, sand and has had an entire gallon of white gloss paint spilt in it! great as a mobile dustbin and also great not ever having to worry about locking it! or cleaning it, or anything in fact.
the novelty of having a car that you can open the door of onto fences/brickwalls etc soon wears off though and left me pining for my scoob back!

Scooby555: That wasn't at Adams of Aylesbury by any chance, was it? I've noticed that they have a Daihatsu franchise now - I think IM have starting importing those as well as Isuzu.
Please tell me it was somewhere else, I have my 45k cambelt service coming up next month. Someone might see me

Scooby555 2 - I had the same YRV... didn't feel at all safe and I think I took some of the tyre off forgetting I didn't have AWD! In the same day I had to give it back and got the purple Justy instead!
You know what I actually prefered the Justy at least it felt more connected with the road!
