Just taken delivery of an MY01 WRX :-)
Sadly the old car seat (Britax Elite) won't fit. Anybody got any recommendations?
Local dealers can't help - not much call for them!

Nige,
It's funny you ask because, we've been looking at exactly this on Saturday.
On my car (MY01 WRX) it would appear than MOST baby seats won't fit because of the length of the buckle webbing, it's about 2 inches to long, which means that the buckle is bent when the seat is strapped into the car.
Mothercare world (incompentant morons who seemed only willing to sell their own products and in the process of demonstrating managed to but a 5 inch scratch in my paintwork :mad said that only one of theirs and a Britax Club Class would do.
Personally i'd rather fit a seat that is a) comfortable for my son and b) is independantly recommended as safe. My preference at the moment is for the Maxi-Cosi Priori but i'm going to have to see if anything can be done to shorten the webbing attached to the belt buckle. (i'll be talking to someone on Monday

Andy,
I lied! Went to Mothercare world on Sat as well and found I have a Club Class not an Elite.
Nice lady there told me that there are 2 ways to fit it. When I tried the second way Bingo!. Excellent fit.
So came away without needing a new seat. Mothercare rose up in my book (they have a long way to go though).
Have you read the manual telling you how the seat belts work in two ways? When I used the E(?) setting, as suggested, it worked very well.
So, now offspring well anchored in, I can press on a bit more!

I've posted this a few times - we got buckle crunch (webbing too long) will all baby seats in all positions - 5dr MY00. Don't know why no-one else suffers this?!
Anyway - you can repace the seatbelts easily and the great place to get them is in Milton Keynes. There's a shop there which is owned by a bloke that advise the government on child seat safety. He fitted a new webbing in my car as an eample and then I ddi the same in our Clio.
If anyone wants the details let me know.

well I've got a Maxi Cosi bucket seat in the back of mine (MY00) for my 2 year old and he always seems happy enough in it. Very easy to remove and install as well (15 second job.
Got it from Mothercare - cost about £120 i think.

I've got two Maxi Cosi Priori's
One for my P1 and one for the Misses Escort.
Excellent seats and mine fits very nicely in the back of the P1, in the centre using the lap strap. It's a real secure and firm fit.
Did have a Recaro start (in matching trim) but she managed to wriggle out of the seatbelts, so back to Halfords it went!
Cheers
