Question

Welcome Brian

Michelle
Do you know what the Link ECU does as it would be something I would be interested in doing.
Thanx.
Andy.

Surely you already know what it does, if you're interested in getting one?

Steve

No, I said that I would be interested in doing it if I knew what it done. Hence the question:
"Do you know what the Link ECU does as it would be something I would be interested in doing"

I dont put mods on for the hell of it. I like to know what it does & this BB answers a lot of the questions I have.

So do you know what it does ?

Andy.

Cool

I pick up a MY99 STi Ver.5 next Saturday that has had no mods - not even the stereo - and so this is my first ever post.

Does anybody recommend making mods? I've read a lot of posts here over the last few weeks but I'd like some thoughts.

One benefit of moving from Scotland to Hong Kong is that this car has only done 13,000kms in two years and been serviced 4 times!

I've tested it twice but am really keen to see how it compares to my '89 Porsche 944Turbo I currently have up for sale. For interest, the 944 has done 84,000kms!

One thing I did notice was at 4,000rpm the 944 would surge you forward with a bang but the WRX seems to wind up gradually from 3,500rpm. Would a change to Super Unleaded make a difference?

Can't wait till the weekend though.

Congrats!

Only run your car on the best fuel you can (and in some cases then add octane booster if you can).

Add a dose of good octane booster to your current tank, and top up with SUL or the best fuel you can find locally ASAP.

Turbo Subies are not good at dealing with poor fuel, det can occur, but more likely is that the ECU sees signs of poor ignition and is winding the advance and boost down to safe levels. Once the ECU sees good fuel, the big shove in the back should be bcack quite quickly.

You can get lots of nice Japanese bits there, so you should have lots of stuff to choose from! A Fujitsubo Legalis Super R cat back exhaust may be a nice place to start.

Enjoy

Welcome to the BBS

Congratulations on the new purchase

Mods? Full de-cat exhaust is usually the most common to start with. An STI V has all the styling mods you really need.....

Link ECU...........anybody else?

Michelle.

Enjoy your car and run it on 100 RON fuel

Even if the terrorist does know, can you tell me what it does?

Remove the Speed Limiter only or also re-work the torque curve? Or something else?

thanks.

Otherwise known as a PossumLink. In short, it's an ECU replacement that is progrmamable by the owner - and in skilled hands can make a big difference.

It comes pre-tuned, but all the fuel & ignition maps are adjustable.

Welcome Brian!
Spent a few days in HK and loved it! Say hello to the Kangaroo pub for me!

As to fuel, get the highest RON available and mods, full catless exhaust and change the filter, then enjoy!
