Question

Hi

I know this is a boring toic, but out of interest on private roads of course what is the real top speed that the P1 will do?

I have heard somewhere that maybe one has done 167 about monitored using GPS?

ANY IDEAS

The Autocar roadtest I've dug out shows a tested 155mph at 7500rpm.
At a true 100mph the indicated speed was 108, so I guess that 165-170 on the speedo is feasible.

For the record, 0-60 was 4.7, 100 in 12.3 and 30-70 in 4.8.
I personally like 80-100 in 4th in 5.0 !

The P1 is geared for appoximately 175mph, as per UK cars and STi's (variant dependant) but running at such high speeds will actually cause engine failure due to lack of air on the top mounted intercooler which would increase engine temps causing failures....
Hope that helps

Tony

Why would it expire flat out in top gear?

Surely it's supposed to do this speed if it's possible?

Thats ridiculous for a standard car! Everyone talks about cossies blowing up but all i've heard since buying my scoob (and I thought they were bullet proof) is bla bla gearbox exploding, bla bla det, bla bla engine blowing

I honestly feel (neutral view) that my 4wd cossie was a lot stronger and more less likely to expire than my scoob.
I've never felt like driving my scoob flat out in 5th coz of this reason but my cossie regularly pulled rev limit in 5th (on a private road)

Had my STI7 off the clock and the ECU started to gently slow me, then it would accelarate again.

Must be the Euro speed 155 limiter.
