Shame I'll miss ya cos I'm going Saturday. For the bump steer, 4 wheel line up and metal roll bar ends & bushes.
Can't wait to tickle it a bit on the way home.
Are all those cameras still flattened on the A40?

I had my 4 wheel tracking / adjustment / bumpsteer mod done by powerstation last Friday.
What a superb mod!! my geometry was way out, and coupled with their improvements to the car, its now a different car to drive... feels superb !!!
Definitely recommend this mod to everyone !!!!!!

As far as i am aware Powerstation are the only company who do the 'bumpsteer' mod.
(i have no connection with PS other than i shall 'tip up' there on Friday).
I have heard good reports from serveral other Scooby drivers and for £ 100.00 or so it seems good value.
There may be others that do do it
Powerstation link.

Paul the mod is great, and works, really works. And they guys @ Powerstation are cool too, especially Rick who did mine.
But a word of warning, ask whoever does your car to remove and tie out of the way the ABS sensors before they attempt to undo the strut bolts. They bust one of mine (accidents do happen ), but did they did own up and pay for a new one (respect ). So I had no ABS for nearly two weeks, as for some reason dealers don't stock even one of these things, plus they cost £150.
Enjoy the mod, as roundabouts are heaven now

seek and ye shall find (nicked off another thread authored by Secret Agent Man);
It's something Powerstation has come up with.
IIRC all scoobs have a tendency to understeer built into them, when the outer front wheel gets loaded up it starts to point out, the more the strut compresses - the more the outer wheel starts to point outwards (the exact opposite thing happens to the inner wheel) resulting in an understeering feeling.
What PS does is to align the steering control arm thingama.jig with the lower suspension arm, so that they'll follow the same radius.
They lower the steering rack, the trick is to get it right, and to be able to measure the "bumpsteer".

I had my P1 done on saturday and the effects are amazing, it has made the car into an excellent one from a very good one.
The best 'mod' I've done to my Impreza anyway.

I bought the bumpsteer mod for my other half in August - he hasn't stopped raving about it since! It is quite good through to car is a lot more fun!!
Incidentally when I asked what Bumpsteer was before we got it done some of the replys were not exactly helpful - I recall someone calling me stupid for not knowing.
I am glad that there are others as "stupid" as me on here!

Don't forget that as part of the bump steer mod, they adjust the cambers front and rear, to the Pro-drive recommended settings.
I had the Pro-drive settings done without the bump steer mod, and the difference is un-believable. Slight understeer now, but I've got used to it.
Will be having the bump steer mod done soon.
Cheers Phill C

Babber.. Just to let you know. The Prodrive settings are NOT used by powerstation when they do the bumpsteer mod. Infact prodrive put these settings together in an attempt to correct out the bumpsteer by use of geometry. When Power Station remove the bump steer they set up the car a lot more neutral. With no Bumpsteer to correct, the geometry settings can be tuned to provide better handling rather that just trying to overcome bumpsteer.
If you think the Prodrive settings are good wait until you have had the bumpsteer removed and a more neatral geometry setup.. its a different world
Every one with a scoob should have it done.

Can you tell me why you would run toe *in * a part from to even up tyre wear from more camber ?
Think of this you brake then turn in and power on , the front lifts and now you have even more toe in , this would cause power understeer , more than they have std ,to me this is bad .What would be best is for both front tyres to be turning in a common radias so as not to cause tyre scrub increasing tyre grip ?
But i can see how if the rack was allowing the tyre rod ends to move in the same arc from a common datum point as the lower control arms that toe changes would be kept to a minimum with the rise and fall of the wheel ?
As for High tec allinment machines , they are only as good as there calabration set up , question you need to ask is how long ago was the machine done , one small bump and it could be out , making all specs wrong .

msgofaster. Not a car techy so can't answer your question about the teo in. However i do know that Powerstation have there alighnment machine calibrated at least monthly. it rely is a flashy piece of kit. Not the Normal SH$t you see as tire centres etc.

So, Paul, how is it? Honestly Do you not find the steering too light now and the car being unstable under braking? That's what I experienced when I drove a bump-steered car...
Please let us know.

I removed the bump steer on my car because I found the steering to light and twitchey at high speeds. It is much better now. The mod consists of 8 washers so why not do it youself and save being charged £50 for a quids worth of washers.

Guys, I think it all come down to personal taste, I love the feeling the bumpsteer mod gives to the front of the car, yes it can be a bit twitchy under braking, but I much prefer the extra response I get when I turn the wheel.
As far as doing it yourself, Yes the SHIMS are cheap but how do you measure it, as you can put too many in and end up with the car handling worse, or too less in and not making a blind bit of difference. All cars are different and you need the right gear to set it up. That's why Power Station are the only people doing it, they have the gear and are prepared to spend the time getting it right.
By the way, I have no connection with power station, other than being a very happy customer.
Cheers all

Toe-in is used purely to counter the toe-out under front bump. The reason this often feels sharper is that the fronts will be paralell or slight toe-out when braking.
cheers
