Hi everyone! just wondered if anyone had done one of these? they seem to be cropping up and are very cheap! how do they compare to trackdays? are they as much fun and does it feel like a circuit if you know what i mean. how does the suface compare to a track for grip and tyre wear? any info would be appr. cheers lee

Yes, done a few with Easytrack (www.easytrack.co.uk) and Javelin (www.javelin-motorsport.co.uk) in my old Puma. They were great fun, with nothing to hit if it all went pear shaped. I'll be doing a couple of airfield days myself in my new Scoob before a track as they are much better for learing the car's limits.

The surfaces aren't as good as tracks and they are on the level i.e. no hills. They still **** your tyres and brakes though!

Cheers lads! sounds good! think i will probably wait till my tyres are abit more worn! i had a spare set of standard rims and tyres but got a good offer so they went. this elvington sounds good not to far either. done croft a couple of times, just fancied a cheap alternative. cheers Lee

Lee,

You fancy organising a Scooby meet at one soon? I'd go tommorow.

I've done Bentwaters and Elvington with bookatrack. Both were fantastic but Bentwaters was still much better than Elvington. The surface at Bentwaters is quite good and it has the "feel" of a circuit - tyre wear while still shocking, wasn't too bad. Elvington can be set up with some huge high speed corners (one you take at around 90mph!). The surface at Elvington isn't too bad, but on the day I was there some of the concrete slabs started to crumble. Must have been the huge torque from the only Impreza

I'd do Bentwaters again tomorrow!

PS A second set of rims for airfield days is a really good idea!

Hi, maybe we will, a meet when my tyres are shafted! wheres bentwaters at andy? sounds a better bet than elvington, we wouldnt want to finish the surface off with all that bhp+torque at once! do they change the circuit round or is it fixed ? wish i kept my old wheels now, there on mates sport, i dont think he will let me borrow em! cheers Lee

I'd be up for a meet at an airfield.....good place to learn the trade I reckon.

Anyone been to Anglesey, that looks quite tempting & isn't too pricey

hi ipitt what do you run? you wil have to have a dabble! least if you do loose it theres plenty of room! when i was at croft theres a tyre wall at the first corner after start an finish straight which kept looking abit ominus every time i went round! cheers Lee

I've also done Bentwaters ... and it's a great track .... especially when you don't do it in your own car

they're also planning improvements ... including hoping to extend it to about 3 miles which will make it absolutely awesome ...

Lee,

Mines a lightly modded 5 door. I'm really looking forward to doing some days next year, just wanted to sort the suspension and brakes a bit first.

You can see it on:
