imported subaru

Have a read through the SIDC FAQ's and tech descriptions for the car so you are sure you are getting what you think you are. Are you doing the import yourself or is a dealer getting one on your behalf?
There are a number of requirements that will have to be met (rear fog lamp fit for example) if it comes straight to England (the SVA test I think it is called?). Not sure if this is the case if it come via Southern Ireland though.... seems a few people are importing them this way because it is less hassle.

R.T.F.Q. ! ken! Thought you were importing yourself or having it imported! Doh!

Most important thing is fuel it needs to be run on high octane fuel, DO NOT run on normal 95 RON unleaded or LRP. I run mine on Shell Optimax (shells 98.6 RON super unleaded) and octane booster.
If its a RA learn to change gear as there are very low geared . Also I have learnt the art in my RA of breathing between gear changing .
worth reading this www.sidc.co.uk/faq.htm as it will tell you all you need to know an answer a lot of questions and brign you upto scooby speed.

Also, get the underside treated. They don't have salt and other sh*t on the roads in Japan like we do over here and the underneath will get knackard really quickly!!

Also check alarms Some Insurance Companies won't insure you without a tracker or Cat1 alarm double check what is fitted and what is required or it could all end in tears or another £1000+ down

car will need to be sva tested this means that you will need to fit a fog light(fused, relay, and wiring inside a reinforced harness from the fog light to the switch)a fuel neck restrictor so only unleaded pumps can fit in the fuel neck,a speedo converter(from kph to mph).
and we also have requirments that mean if you remove the speed limiter(112 mph)you will have to make sure the tyres are capable of doing so(z rated).
and no wiring any where other than standard ie gagues (all gagues, wiring, must be removed for the test.
oh and last of all turbo timers are not allowed in this country to be fitted to the vehicle at the time of testing.
if all of the above is completed there should be no problems other than emissions testing there are reports of 98 cars failing the cat test best thing to do is fully service the car fill only with optimax and octain booster as the better the fuel the better it burns.
hope this helps rob
