ECU RESET???
#1
Ive read a few paosts relating to fuel types where people say they have reset their ECU's and the results have been positive - can someone please explain how you reset the ECU - and is it worth doing if you cant guarantee always using the exact same fuel?
Thanks,
Phil

Simple, disconnect the battery overnight, reconnect in the morning. ECU reset, job done.
The ECU will monitor the RON of the fuel you use. If it detects a lower RON i.e you have filled up with NUL because they have run out of SUL it will automatically run the engine differently. You would then have to fill up with SUL lots of times before the ECU went back to the original settings. By reseting the ECU it will detect what RON is in the tank at that time and run accordingly.
Cheers Nathan..

Hmmm. Keep hearing about the 'ECU reset' story. Sorry, but the ECU learns a lot quicker than that. I've had two now - both pre-facelift versions though - and you just fill up with a different fuel and the ECU does the right thing within 10 or 20 miles. It does help to have a heavy right foot during this period though....
Oh, and remember, if the tank is reasobably full up when you add a different fuel then the *mix* will not be at the higher octane so you will need to fill a few times. Just wait until the tak is nearly empty then refill.

BOB - took the scoob to selecta tyre in grantham (apparently selecta tyre supply wheels and tyres to Notts and Mansfield Subaru)- they quoted me £90 a corner for Toyo proxes 215, 40, 17's like ive got now - which i thought was good??
I got all 4 wheels balanced and the tracking done - was quite a long way out - now drives much better - no steering wheel shake at cruising speed - £43 all in. Had an hour of questions and ar*e licking from the mechanics though and everyone in the garage was having a good look at the scoobysport exhaust when it was u in the air!
Cheers!!
