Okay,

lets just explain a few things here.

1/ Sorry for mentioning that I drive a car costing "twice as much" as an Impreza, I was being subjective here and not trying to belittle anyone on this board. If it matters (and it doesn't) I drive TVR as some perceptive individual mentioned
2/ Council Estate image: Right, here we go, I'll explain this as diplomatically as possible: I drive to work in Birmingham everyday and the number of (diplomatic mode engaged) ethnic minorities (not slagging anyone off here) I see is not unusual. There is a "white" WRX 94 model that regularly drives past my place of work at high speed with the stereo booming out the Stereo MC's. I believe he comes from Handsworth and is well known to the locals as he deals in illegal substances (allegedly). Now I know this is tarring everyone with the same brush but it doesn't do the cars image any good does it ?
3/ I only pointed out that their seemed to be a lot of slagging off of the current model on here etc...
4/ I am NOT a snob, I was brought up in Sutton Coldfield
5/ I may drive a TVR but I am not a god nor am I invincible, drive a car only meant for the privilege few or look down on anyone
6/ I am on this board because I am interested in Scoobys (I may even buy one) and my wife works away from home every weekday so I get to play on the PC

Hope this resolves your uncertainties, I am not out to get yer !

Chips

Hi, I have been stalking this board for a few months now and I feel it is time for me to speak my mind. I am tiring of the love hate relationship between the various models ie classic vs facelift. I would like to point out that I own neither, I am an admirer of the levels of performance Subaru's attain for the price, I drive a performance car costing twice as much but enough of that. Here are a few points from me, someone who is impartial:

1: There is nothing wrong with the way the new Impreza looks (MY01/2 ?) It is a fine looking car and I have been given a run for my money more than once with a blue one that lives not far from me, I wonder if he is on this board
2: The classic, whilst good in its time looks past it now. The build looks cheap and flimsy and too "council estate" these days, just like the RS Turbo Escort of old.
3: The P1 is <probably> the best Impreza of all, and somehow just manages to float above the image of the standard car.
4: Nothing wrong with 5 door models. I prefer the new shape in this guise but both cars offer a little "stealth" wolf in sheeps clothing image about them; I like that.

Okay, my four main points put across, but one observation of this board: stop slagging each others MY model off. Share and share alike. True enthusiasts of any breed appreciate all variations

Thanks for reading and goodnight

Chip

From what I have read the 22B was not built <handling wise> for UK roads and suffers as a consequence as a true UK drivers car, remember we have some of the worst roads in Europe (Southern France excepted)
Like the 22B mate, but the P1 licks it (only just) by the fact that its tuned by Prodrive and offers more smiles for your money

One other observation: there seems to be too much "how many green scoobs" "what colour are your wiper blades" "why don't I get thirty fifteen to the gallon" and other purile leads on here

I just thought i'd share my opinion.

My car is an old WRX 5 door. I hate the exterior looks, and i hate the interior. It's truly a nasty car.

The list of things that annoy me about the car is a long one. The switches are terrible, the windows dont go up quick enough, the dials aren't bright enough, the gearbox feels nasty, the clutch pedal has too much travel and the plastics are paper thin etc, etc,etc,etc.... The car just feels cheap!! (especially compared to my last car which was 2 years older and about 4 grand cheaper)

I'm not gonna try and kid myself that old imprezas are great cars... they're not.

However, they're fast, handle great and sound great. That's why i bought it.

All IMO of course

Most of us just want to have some fun while driving, the scoob offers this in abundance. Also making it possible to tweek and improve its handling/performance etc. In the ideal world we would all love a brand new top of the range car, but I would imagine that like me most of the people on here have to graft hard for their cash. The cars that we each own is, without doubt, the best that we can afford, we take the p**s and most of the time don't mean anything nasty. You cannot slag us classic owners off just because we cannot afford to buy newer cars, some would like an upgraded scoob, some like myself are happy with the car I have got, when possible adding mods to it.

Chippy, this is a forum, the jist of it is that people
give their opinion about something or ask a question
and then maybe get a reply, not everyone has the same tastes
and that is why like something or not as the case may be!
You saying that you didnt like people expressing their
opinions is just the same as someone saying they dont like
the bugeye or classic, if we all thought the same then we
wouldn't have a forum to discuss anything cause we would
know what the answer would be!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love sweeping general statements, dont you!!

I bought my MY94 council estate sti via japan for over £10K and love it to bits. I had a Lotus Carlton previously, and currently run 3 cars of my own. Hmmm...cannot afford a new one?

In the spirit of equality and balance - 'everyone is entitled to an opinion, even if they are wrong'.

But then this is my third TVR to date and I have only had her for nine weeks so........who knows
