What's the biggest discount a car dealer has given you
#1
A dealer once accidently gave me a 10% discount. He put the deposit cheque in his shirt pocket and I reckon it went in the wash. This dealer sold loads of cars that day (for Aug 1 delivery for a new L plate) and I reckon they were too embarrassed to ask all their customers if they'd paid. I waited 6 months and 1 minute before spending the deposit.

For cash?
On a 16k car they must be making at least 4k on the car, biggest I've ever had was 1k off the screen price on MY99 18 months ago for a cash deal with no px.

I went along to Lancaster (and I'm sure he's on here), asked about a car which was up for £14,995 screen price and he instantly gave me £500 off, so I walked out and said call me if you wanna do a "deal", a week later he did, to cut a long story short I got £1000 off the screen price and got a Tracker Monitor in with the bargin

well if we're playing that game I bought a nova for £1800, had two smashes in it both not my fault, they paid out £1400 for the first one and let me keep the car, I then fixed it for £700 (£700 profit) then I crashed again and did something similar and made £200 and then someone crashed into it just before selling it and I got £500 from a company who didnt want me to take them to court, then sold car for £1000 so paid £1800 and got back £2400 for it, had it 3 years in all and it didnt have a single thing go wrong except needing some new discs and pads once! then my mate had it for a year and someone stole it and wrote it off, kinda off beat but a nice story about the money
Edited to say, I know, thats 3 not 2!

Not a direct discount per se, but when I bought my Jaguar X-Type I wanted to 'fully load' it, and with a bit of persuasion the dealer did over half of the options I wanted for free. Saved me approximately £2.5k.

got fiesta zetec S registered jan this year with full extras, should be around £12-£13k, got for £7500
brother works for ford so i spose that got something to do with it but i got more off by agreeing to have finance, then payed it off 2 months later.
they want u to go finance as they get commission, agree to it then pay it off shortly after, u also get a rebate cos u pay it off early.
this works on ford finance, not sure on others!!!
