I'm sure most people already know, but there will be a three minute silence at 11:00am today as a mark of respect.

Is the board going to be closed during this time?

I feel a tasteless joke coming on.....something to do with the "Last Post"

My Apologies that we didn't spot this until after 11:00am otherwise we would have observed it by closing the BBS for 3 minutes, as a sign of respect.

All the best

Simon

The 3 mins silence was respected by all in our office, and rightly so.
But why dont we do the same when similar numbers are killed in earthquakes, floods etc in other parts of the world. It irritates me that everybody treats the USA so differently.

The US was just the location.

Add in several hundred British casualties, plus people from other countries

They get my thoughts and respects.

Trigger - natural disasters are just that, natural. Hijacking an airliner and flying it into tower block is not a natural act.

It's nothing to do with it being the USA, it's to do with the scale of the event and the impact it will have on the world at large (I don't remember any "silences" for the San Francisco earthquakes, Mt St Helens etc).
