I'm sure most people already know, but there will be a three minute silence at 11:00am today as a mark of respect.

ChrisB 14 September 2001 10:16 AM

Is the board going to be closed during this time?

ChrisB.

Steve001 14 September 2001 10:22 AM

I dont think closing the board is required, I dont think anyone will post during this time.

Boost II 14 September 2001 10:26 AM

I feel a tasteless joke coming on.....something to do with the "Last Post"

Seriously though, I shall respect this 3 minutes silence and abstainence of posting.

AndrewC 14 September 2001 10:27 AM

I just logged on to post the same thing myelf.

My Apologies that we didn't spot this until after 11:00am http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif otherwise we would have observed it by closing the BBS for 3 minutes, as a sign of respect.

All the best

Simon

Hum he wouldnt have got away with that here - anything that shows disrespect to anothers beliefs is a SERIOUS offence

3 minutes to think about others is not a lot to ask now is it http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/mad.gif bearded moron http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/mad.gif

Perfectly observed in my office with no phone, fax or emails received during that time http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

Aye, some fecking contractor moron (no offence to the other contractors on here, but this guy is a real irritating idiot) over the other side of my office couldn't shut it either, have these people no compassion http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/mad.gif

TRIGGER 14 September 2001 03:56 PM

The 3 mins silence was respected by all in our office, and rightly so.
But why dont we do the same when similar numbers are killed in earthquakes, floods etc in other parts of the world. It irritates me that everybody treats the USA so differently.

ChrisB 14 September 2001 04:22 PM

The US was just the location.

Add in several hundred British casualties, plus people from other countries http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif

They get my thoughts and respects.

ChrisB.

SimonH 14 September 2001 05:16 PM

Trigger - natural disasters are just that, natural. Hijacking an airliner and flying it into tower block is not a natural act.

It's nothing to do with it being the USA, it's to do with the scale of the event and the impact it will have on the world at large (I don't remember any "silences" for the San Francisco earthquakes, Mt St Helens etc).
