Got a feeling a new gear box is needed or maybe just a 1st gear cog replacement.
Any ideas on prices, I drive a MY97 STi3.

Cool

I've just put 2nd hand 'box in mine as 3rd gear went for a burton.

I was looking at a bill of around £1300 to rebuild my 'box (94 Legacy Turbo), so I got a second hand unit, from a '99 UK spec car, from a specialist breaker for £500 +VAT and got it fitted for £200 by the main dealer.

The Breaker is called Grade A Subaru in Hayfield, Derbyshire, Tel 01663 744114.

Thumbs up

Good price...

I paid £1600 for my99 rplacement box from a written off UK WRX but that included replacement clutch

Stripdown and re-build time alone is 7 hours so add that into your equation

Thanks folks.

Katana, can you give me contact details for rally colin?

SiPie,

Does this include removal and refitting or is it just strip down, check for a prob and then rebuild?

We did a new box in a UK 97MY the other day.

Part No : 32000AE160, £881.25 inc VAT

Fitting should take about 4 hours.

Cool

Hail hail

That was just strip down / have a look / rebuild time.....

Problem being that if teeth have been stripped then the chances are they will be everywhere and if they rebuild it's not always 100% that it will run smooth in the future

Good luck

You can e-mail him at colin_minton@hotmail.com. I never knew that he can also help remove the gearbox. If I knew that I could've saved hours spending my time being drenched in gearbox oil.

Heh by the time I took the gearbox off it was too late. Never mind. Knowing Subarus, this won't be the last time.
