Question

Hi All,

My Car ( Sti V6 Typr R ) has developed a little problem. When i start the car from cold it will idle fine. However when it has been going for a while it seems to be idling in an eratic fashion.
This is extreemly annoying. Have been told that it may be a sensor of something. If so anyone got any idea which one, where it is ect. Hope it is nothing more serious.

Any help greatly appreciated.....

G
P.S - I will be online tonight but not until tomorrow evening again.

Thanks

Try the MAFF

the same thing hapened on my UK 99.

Fine when just started but started an eratic idle after about 10-20 mins, usually at a set of lights after a good blat down the East Lancs road ;-).

Initially had the o2 sensor replaced under warranty, but it did not cure the fault, then after replacing the MAFF the problem was completely sorted.

Try it

If it is the MAF sensor at fault, you can now buy just the sensor without the MAF housing now, the cost of the sensor is about £80 IIRC.

The MAF sensor is located in the black housing which i have highlighted on the image below:-

NB:- My car is fitted with an induction kit not an OEM Airbox so the location is slightly different, but the general area is still the same

Most Scoobs seem to idle a little roughly (something you can only feel through the seat) so if it doesn't show up on the revcounter and you can hardly hear it, don't worry too much.

Unhappy

DNB,

Yea i hear you mate. Unfortunately its a little more than that. I changed the MAF today and ........NOOOOO
Anyway been speaking to a guy who reckons that the idle actuator might be the problem. I will be trying this on Monday evening so hopefully that should do the trick.

Thanks for the advise.

Could also be oxygen sensor... but get it on a select monitor, to see whats happening with the fueling e.t.c
