Optimax review in CCC

Dave, a 272bhp exige!! very nice. Test drove a standard one and it was a weapon. I imagine with 272 it is pretty much untouchable on a track by anything other than full on gizzillion pound supercars or Caterham R500 supercars and loony westfields etc... Have you had it on a track yet? Who did the work? I will buy the mag on the way home but I'm very impatient

The work was done by TurboTechnics.
The performance is (well was) astounding, vision blurringly fast.
To quote from Dave Walker in CCC:
"It's hard to describe the effect of planting your foot in second gear. The car is so fast it doesn't feel fast. The rev limiter is doing its stuff before your brain comprehends that you need another gear. You need time for your senses to adjust to this sort of performance."
And unlike those lesser cars you mention, the Exige has $hitloads of downforce
However, it's not all beer and skittles, as a piston broke (when I'm normally pissed n broke) soon after collecting the car. TT have redesigned the pistons and I'll be back on the road soon.

Wow theres a good article in the CCC this month (Oct 2001) covering the new Optimax fuel where they do a comparison in a Vectra (urg) but they get a 5% imporvement (over unleaded ). Would like to see the diff between Opti and SU though. It also has a good description of how it stops knocking for us thickies

Cheers, will have a check at lunchtime. FWIW, my own unscientific analysis shows I'm getting around 10% more to the gallon and still driving the same way .... I've done some in-gear acceleration figures too, which show an average 3 tenths of a second improvement, in 4th & 5th gear roll-ons.
Which oddly enough, equates to the 2-3 car lengths that Shell promise ...
