Question

hello,

I was wandering if you chaps could help me settling a small debate between me and my friends.

Is PPP only available as a UK Option?

In other words can I order PPP for my Scooby if I donīt live in UK?

As far as I know it is available in Belgium and other northern european countries... alledgedly that is... but only on the new (well old now) WRX (MY'01 / '02) and STi 7s.

Thanks for the replys chaps

I always thought the PPP was a UK only option.

But those dealers outside the UK must also honour the "no affect on the warranty" clause, right?

My forked tongued dealer told me that a Euro import STI UK wasn't actually a pukka 'STI UK' and wouldn't be acceptable for PPP'ing inthe UK

So I guess if I bought a Euro STI 'EU', I could take it to an EU dealer.

Sorted.

Thumbs up

Cars sold in Portugal as new are the WRX or the WRX Prodrive, which has PPP, suspension, brakes, headlights, P1 wheels and costs about three grand extra.

I wouldn't be so sure that dealers outside the UK have any obligation to follow IM's (subaru UK) stance about the warranty.
Outside the UK you may well find your warranty invalid by fitting any 3rd party modifications.

Cool

PPP is not approved at all in Germany!! You are not allowed to have it fitted as it is not TÜV approved and it makes the car exhaust noisier which is also not allowed.

Just to make you laugh here are the noise limits for my car

Standing still at full power 84db
Moving at full power 73 db

any deviation from thesse and the car is no longer approved for road use and your insurance is invalid.

Quite why it is allowed to make more noise standing still is beyond me, who gives a **** how much noise it makes on the motorway?

So enjoy your gadgets and noisy exhaust pipes

So it is pretty much just the u.k. and certain european countries, AND you must have a UK STi or EU UK STi? So no hope for New Zealand seeing a PPP'd impreza?

BTW Like your name TheScoobyWRX

Cheers M8

Well someone mentioned South Africa. Surely they can't have UK or Euro STi/WRX?.

Would be interesting if we could build a list with Subaru dealers OUTSIDE UK who sells PPP.

This has been around for a while now:

http://www.autoworld.com.my/EMZine/Review/viewarticle.asp?awReviewID=855&awCatID=RT.ATC.CAR. NW

I think it's Malaysia and the PPP retains the Subaru warranty, although it's not as long as the one we get. Anyone who ordered before the end of December last year, got it free with their WRX though.

Cheers

Mike

In France, as in Portugal, you have the WRX STi, and the WRX STi Prodrive. The Prodrive does *not* have the PPP fitted - the differences between the STi and the Prodrive are purely cosmetic - bigger spoiler on the back, different grill on the front, blue insets for the dashboard etc. Cost is about 3K Euros extra...and there are no more available - only 50 imported
