My car is back.

After the last track day - Steve started my 30,000 service and discovered 1 part bits to 3 parts oil in my gearbox.

He took my car away for a week and did a few bits and pieces.

His work is meticulous and careful as ever - he did the works

- fixed gearbox
- completed service
- ported and flowed exhaust manifold and joins
- prepared for water injection
- fitted guage senders
- fitted AP clutch
- lightened flywheel by 3kg
- generally sorted

He managed to all of this for EXCELLENT value in between managing to control his hysteria at all the bodge work I have done on the car

He also checked a lot of things like the turbo and stuff.

Car now runs very, very well - gasflowing is the business!

Steve - I thank you - I hope that Surrey Performance goes from strength to strength. If nothing else - who will work on my car now - I won't touch it after experiencing the value and quality of your work.

Trout

Matt,

at peak boost with porting and no other adjustment the air fuel ratio has dropped considerably - my lambda (CO) readings dropped from an optimum 7% to a scarily lean 5% with this mod alone.

So car needs more fuel (which it will get) and revs so much more freely.

I am sure Steve will love me for advertising this bit as I think it was his favourite job when working on my car

Subjectively and objectively the mod gave a significantly bigger improvement than a good induction kit for example - for about the same price - and it is an 'invisible' mod

Cheers,

Trout

Chris, hes in home of the scoobs. Bring it down to him!

He will look after your car like it was his baby and also there is no other mechanic in the subaru community who is as honest as him-except Phill Venn at Barrattes

Now that would be a team

What does lightening the flywheel do??

Yep- got my car back today after '2 days' of 'minor mods'!

Hmm demand versus supply may mean that this excellent resource becomes very scarce soon!

- he has got speaking on the mobile whilst taking cars apart down to a fine art!

Call yourself an accountant! Makes it lighter of course

Sorry mate, couldn't resist it - it makes the engine rev from freely and reduces braking effort as there is less intertia in the drivetrain.

Experience suggests that a little is a good thing - a lot is a very annoying thing.

Mine is now about 9kg down from 12kg. You can get 4.5kg billet flwheels from Oz, but they are not really practical on a road car.

Trout, what are you using to control fueling then? I presume you're not running a standard ECU?

Matt,

I currently have a Ten Row PC Link ECU in my car.

I have had two previous 6 row versions and have been running Link for well over 20,000 miles now - including several visits to the track!
