Question

As I'm new to 'high performance car' owing game I thought I's come to the source of all knowledge.
I have a red WRX, grey import, from 94'.
Went to get the car serviced at 70k kilometers, and they tried to put some manky Shell nonsense into my engine! Almost chinned the chap!
When I bought the car, the previous owner liked the Castrol Magnatec 10w/40. When I had the oil changed I put in Champion Superlube 10w/40, but really wanted to use the Castrol TWS (?) 10w/60.
Please bear in mind I live in Finland, where we have serious winters. The Magnatec 5w/40 is available here, but not the 10w.
Thoughts?

I have a cossie and tend to use mobil 1 motorsport 15w-50 or castrol rs 10w-60.
Presume they will be fine for scoobs too as they are high quality and fully synthetic.

Quite a few of the Supra guys use Valvoline 5w50 fully synthetic. Most of the seriously powerful Supras also use it so it must work pretty well, and its only something like £16 for 4l.

Most of the people I know who have really high performance acars use Mobil One synthetic. Its $5 a quart over here but it does a wonderful job. So good in fact that when I put it in my old lincoln it cleaned out all the crap from the engine! this includes all the crap that was holding together just about every seal. The car burned just about every type of fluid after that. moral of this story: great for new cars, but don't convert an old car.

I would have thought 15/50 or 10/60 will be too thick at cold starts in somewhere like Finland?
Re-Branners comment I use Valvoline Synpower 5/50 synthetic in my Scoob. I would have thought one of the 5/40 synthetics would be just right.
