Question

Got a friend who's looking at buying one of these and wondered if anyone on this BBS had driven one/owns one and what their views are.
He's already looked on the RS4 BBS (rs4.org)and those guys are usually biased as they've already invested their £50k in one..
Cheers,

Gareth.

P.S. Would be really helpful to have the views of those who have actually driven or owned a rs4,as opposed to the 'EVO/Autocar say...blah,blah..' type of comments...Thanks!

Cool

Ok, I haven't driven one, but a friend does have one and loves it. IMHO looks absolute awesome!

not driven one, but would love to.

some bad press of late about the bendy wheels. Apparently there is flex in the wheels as part of the suspension and that its causeing mishapen wheels which are then a little tricky to drive with.

just what Ive heard could be complete rubbish

Presumably he must know about the buckled wheels issue.

Sorry crossposted with above.

Had a go in one about two Saturdays ago. Made me think that I'll deffo be back to the Audi stable after the Scoob.
Bugger all rear leg room. One I went in had a DVD player installed, 3 screens. Also been back to Audi for some engine work. Its still under warranty etc. but was told that it was kicking out 440bhp. Performance was unbeleivable. Fastest thing I've ever been in by a long way.

As for the wheel problem. Its true. Not sure if its the actual alloy, or the bolts holding the wheels on, but it needs checking. S8 has the same problem.

If I had the money, I'd have one tomorrow.

I haven't driven one but apparently they don't have as nimble handling as a car like a Scoob but then they are two different cars. Hopefully I will sell my S3 to get an RS4.....keep dreaming Ben.

They are 380bhp as standard. 0-60 in 4.6 seconds, 0-100 in 11, 0-125 in 17 and 0-150 in 30 seconds. Not bad for an estate.

Gareth

Give Branco a ring at BR Developments. He's got one as well as a 300 plus bhp STI.

Branco's car has also been upgraded in some areas by Audi Sport.

Worth talking to him - it is a lovely car

Hi Jonathan (Chins)-Might have known that an Audi thread would catch your eye! This mate of mine currently has an S4 Avant with an AMD chip mod putting our around 322 bhp and 310lb ft of torque and fancies going up to 450+ bhp that the RS4 can get to...
Where/how can my friend get hold of Branco?
Must admit I've not heard of BR Developments also.
Thanks,
Gareth.

Question

vmax - Are you sure they're RS4's not S4's ? I thought RS4's were only available as estates.

Cool

RS4 is mazing for an estate. I have been taken out in one and have to say the handling is great and it goes like a rocket. Good styling and interior is nice, although not as roomy as might espect of an estate. Definitely worth a good audition, and would leave many a car standing...

Shared a 24hr test drive with one of these.
Great in a straight line. Easy to forget it is an estate and it really does gallop.
I personally didn't like cornering too much as it always reminded me it was an estate.
As always, it depends on what you want to do with the car. If I spent a lot of time on the motorway, I would consider one.Its also quite subtle. No looks, thumbs up, headlights flashed from other Audi's.
Depends what you want, but I'm a bit of a poser

The company I work for has 4 of them as pool cars believe it or not 2 Yellow 2 Blue.. all saloons.

Very quick cars... Even worse on petrol than a scoob. Gear change is a bit strange.

I wouldn't say no to one.

I know a chap who's driven one for a while and his impression seems to be that its blindingly fast in straight line but a bit wooden and anitseptic in the twistys, not involving enough. But must say wouldnt mind one as a spare car.

Pleased to say that my mate has now his RS4 and it's pretty damn good really. Drove it last night and thoroughly enjoyed it on both 'M' ways, 'A' and 'B' roads at various speeds. The handling is not as fluid as say, a scoob/M3/M5, but it's alot better than many previous performance Audi's/Mercedes I've driven. He got it from a decent (one of the few!) Audi Uk dealers for around £42k with a very high spec and a lowish mileage. He's now off to MTM Quattrosports to get it chipped from the current 380bhp to 450 'ish'...
Cheers for the comments on behalf of my fortunate friend!
Gareth.

Last week I was within a hairs breadth of PX'ing my P1 for one.

What's put me off, big time, is the bendy wheel issue. The car's fast and is safe with distorted wheels and the top man at Audi UK I spoke with assured me the rubber won't come off when they become non-round. Audi'll apparently continue with their policy to replace the alloys without many questions being asked by the dealers.

However, for 50K ish I am not prepared to have the hassle of having the occasional wheel/s changed in the 3 years of ownership I had organised. So I've abandoned the idea and am back with the P1 - with a continued smile. Took her out tonight - after a week in a Rover 820i (loaned car) and wow does the P1 fly.

The RS6 will be here soon, in estate and saloon guise. I'll wait for that now and in the mean time have a wail (or is it whale ?) of a time in my favourite Scoob. I'm glad to be back in the clan guys.

Regards,

Simon
