We all wish that the new car would be 20k or under; but with importer margins, I doubt it.

Perhaps Subaru Japan / FHI need to rethink their sales strategy.
If the STI UK has accounted for 30% of Impreza sales, why bother confusing the range with the addition of the standard WRX ?

The std 260 (?) STI UK should be the entry model, with PPP as an option; this would give the public back it's giant slayer, in image, if not quite in performance; leaving the PPP to cater to the type of people that frequent this forum. Would simplify dealer servicing as they wouldn't have to deal with 2 different types of engine or chassis; though that cost saving isn't of immediate benefit to the consumer.

Mitsubishi should drop the price of the Evo VII and VIII as well. How many of these have you seen on the road ?

At a guess (and it's a real guess!) I would say Subaru won't do anything too radical until the next generation Impreza comes out.

That model should meet all emissions regs and so be the same the World over. So the whole PPP thing becomes less important.

Spoke to a dealer last week and he said the new model WRX would be under 20K, and the new STI would be cheaper than the current model....fat chance IMHO.
