Question

Went to fill up at the garage this morning, and the super unleaded pump had been replaced with this OPTIMAX one, what the hell is it?

Didn't have time to **** about so went to another garage.

So far, found it very nice. 98.6RON apparently (from Shell directly) and definitely feels smoother. Pulled like a train this morning in the cool air, pulling nearly 18psi boost

I was using Optimax at TRAX with 2 bottles of Miller Octane booster... ..

I was getting flame outs coming up the motorway and on the track..

The car deff. pulls better and just feels a lot happier...!

I am currently paying 79.9ppl for Optimax, against 82.9 for the old SUL at the same (Shell) garage - better for less, waaahoooo!

Question

I seem to be having a problem with it after a couple of days. At first the cars smooth and pulls hard then after a couple of days the cars seems to hold back a little. Its as if goes off( has it got a sell by date or something). Then when i fill up again its back up to full power

I always fill up when i get down to a quarter of a tank and put a bottle of millers in with it

Does this happen to anyone else?

Ro

Just to point out that earlier cars have 50 litre tanks (well my 95WRX does) and later cars have 60 litre tanks I believe..I'm sure I read that somewhere

1 bottle of millers should be added to 50litres of fuel - I run right down on fuel (not to the point of circulating the cr*p at the bottom through the system though) before adding a bottle - to ensure its mixed with roughly 50litres as much as poss.
I can do this most times cos my journey to work & business is local so can judge it pretty well.
I am wondering if because you maybe dont put 50litres in the car (ie maybe less every time ?) the millers level in the tank is building up gradually?? Not sure if this can cause a problem - do others know ?I have often wondere about this (sad - eh) so would welcome more expert opinion.

Yes, my MY95 has a 50ltr tank. Had to cruise along the Mway once at 50mph until I reached the services due to running on fumes. Pump showed putting in 48 ltrs to fill it That's the lowest I've ever been. Bit of a scarry ride (will it stop, what do I do if I run out of pertol now, can I make it!!)

Ro, good point but......... my car has no cats so because millers don't sell NC anymore they recomend that you put twice the dosage of octane+ so i can't see it being that. I'm also only on my 3rd tankfull

thanks for the help anyway

Scott

p.s
I am going to give it a couple more goes and if it still happens i will be going back to BP
