Right gang - I'm now officially pi**ed off!!

I am sick and tired of the local yobos tearing around my home town as if they do not have to abide by any traffic laws at all. Thrashing around the towns 30 mph streets as fast as they like with the loudest exhaust they can fit to their Fiestas, Novas, Pugs et al. Theres even one with a replica (or rebuilt) Escort Cossie. Now before I get labeled as a kill joy this is how it goes.....

Our town is a small (and I mean small) market town with one main
street running into a 'T' junction into the other main street. Both have plenty of pubs and shops on them. Matey boys pull up at the traffic lights, turn right (or left as the mood takes them) and give it full throttle. In particular the Cossie is the worst offender as it is by far the quickest - I have watched this boy bounce the car off the rev limiter in second past the pubs doorways. This is all in a populated 30 zone too! The others all act in the same irresponsible manner one after the other for, seemingly, lap after lap of the town.

Anyway, what has really got my goat is that at least one of them can make his Nova (or is it a Saxo or both?) back fire at will. The little bast**d did this just as he was passing me walking down the road the other day - jumped out of my bloody skin I did! And for those who know me it's a pretty big skin!!!! I want to exact my revenge on the little bar stewards but I need a little info first...

Does anyone have any info on how these little horrors manages to make a modern injected car back fire - would it be a "flamer kit" or similar?? Or any "illegal" addition to the exhaust??

Like I say I wish to exact my revenge, but please do not get me
wrong, I do not and will not condone doing anything illegal to them - rather turn the law into a tool to beat them with. Thats how pi$$ed off I am with them!!!!!

Cheers all
Matt

Well if you can do it in a scooby with a full decat and atmospheric dump valve I'm pretty sure they can do it too.

Don't worry about it so much as there is little you can do to stop them - neds will be neds. Its not just nova/saxo/etc drivers that cause trouble. I had a 406 sat 1 foot of my bumper for 2 miles through traffic in town last night and eventually he did a turn in the road after he realised I wasn't going to race him in town (shame really, I was leading him to a long straight safe road ) This was no ned car but the guy was still only interesting in racing in a built up environment.....I was not!!

Hi Bob - And a nice Fiesta it is too matey - I was on the Tour of Derbyshire two years ago

Hi Saxo dude - I am not having a go at the hot hatch or even young driver brigade but at the mentality of some drivers who think that they can race in built up 30 mph zones with shoppers and revelers at quite horrendous speeds with impunity - Like I said Cossie driver bouncing off the rev limiter in at least second gear past pubs with loads of people wandering around in the road. He/they WILL kill or maim someone if they do not modify their driving habits.

Just wanted to see if anyone had any info on these so called "flamer kits"... Oh and BTW there is a load that you can do to stop this sort of behaviour if you have the will to.

Matt

Edit..

Well if you can do it in a scooby with a full decat and atmospheric dump valve I'm pretty sure they can do it too.
I know how that works. I don't know how with a n/a non modded injected motor....

Not a lot you can do....you could try calling the police to report the 'menace' but prob a waste of a good phone call. Save it for the next pop idol poll!

The road behind my house is used as a "rat run", and about 10 years ago I had a couple of idiots racing up and down it in boy racer-mobiles. I phoned the police and was told they'd have someone available in about an hour. I complained that one of my kids, or a neighbour's could be killed by then, and was told there was nothing they could do!
I was so mad that I told the woman on the other end of the phone not to worry as I'd do something myself. She said I wasn't allowed, and I replied "watch me", and put the phone down.
I then went and reversed my old Sierra across the road in question, "stalled" it, got out, lifted the bonnet, and brought the "racing" to a halt, as the road was now blocked.
Imagine my surprise, (NOT) when a traffic car came round the corner within two minutes?
Cops? Pah!!!!!!

I think a little direct action is best!

Do you think you could privately buy those stinger/spike strips that the police use?

We've got one in our neighbourhood and he drives a Silver Scooby He thinks it is big and hard to get from 0-60 in a car park that has kids/pedestrians in, and to also enter the car park sideways! All this in a 30mph zone....

Sorry but there are a lot of Scooby drivers were I live, and everyone I know/have seen are always driven well, all except for this one bloke who is no doubt tarnishing us all with the same brush.

Cool

You mean you didn't recognise me in my peugot disguise...!
Are you being serious??? Scooby doesn't have a rear wiper and the window was all rained up so I couldn't make out anything other than the shape of a driver and a passenger. They made their intention to play obvious but for the most part were safe....if I'd known it was you, built up area or not, I'd still have wasted ya

What p*sses me off is that I got pulled the other night for doing bugger all!! Just so the copper could have a nosey round my car!! These boy racers tear round constantly and the police seem to leave them alone. There is no bloody justice. Instead of picking on Scoobys they ought to target the real menaces

Matt, I had a similar gripe with a guy in an AX GT sitting outside my house every evening trying to impress 14 year olds girls. He had a straight though exhaust which popped constantly. Used to sit there all evening with the stereo turned up and the engine running.

I got pissed off with it so i just moved my car (which was fitted with a full HKS hiper and considerably louder, more expensive and better looking than his) into the space behind him. Everytime he pulled in i'd just go out and park behind him and make his 500 quid shed with a drainpipe for an exhaust look silly. He stopped parking there after a few days.

I started a new job shortly afterwards and couldn't believe what i saw in the car park. There was the same 500 quid shed with the same Tw@t getting out of it. This time wearing a suit and carrying a briefcase. I just assumed he was some 17yo ned. In actual fact he was a 26 year old IT analyst.

Wuooooo - strirred summat up here then! It isn't just me that gets angry about the fact that these yobbos tear around with inpunity then??

People there is something that can be done - It may be a waste of time phoning the police but it isn't a waste of time getting together with them face to face to 'discuss options' I can tell you - you just need Bolas Grandes!

Matt - still pi$$ed off that the decent drivers get the tickets and the scum get away with it

Saxo...

Control freaks don't do passenger laps and especially not in Pug 406's!!!!

The only time I was a passenger recently was when you had a shot of my scoob....... my knuckles still haven't returned to their rightful colour !!!!!

I live in Camberley, Surrey, home of the boy racer.

Honestly, I know the country is covered with them but we get a particuarly bad bunch of idiots. Nobody will do anything until a child is killed or something else.

Anyone know Frimley road in Camberley?, that road at night is a nightmare, cars side by side racing in a 30mph limit. Police useless.

Do you honestly never get driven by anyone else? I'm in the car with my brother and mates quite a bit, I hate the way you go for the imaginary brake pedal....thing is more often than not they are braking perfectly well but you still wish it was you that was in control

Even then, what action would be taken? How many people are killed by foolish drivers per year? and what is done about it?

Everything is hopeless...

are you sure nova was injection motor ?
You can get a large pop / bang out of a carb motor by ;
rev to around 4000rpm
turn off ign
wait a second
dap throttle lightly
wait another second
turn on ign......BANG
and I mean BANG !

all was well and good in my blacked out metro shed mobile, scaring people half to death, until that is one of the then 'mates' decides to stick the tip of an umbrella out the window......

about five mins later, at least three meat wagons (that's what we used to call them ) nudged me over to the side of the road blocking all exits, next thing I know I'm being dragged out the car..and me seat belt was still done up

oh that was a cold night on the slatted bench reading all the graffiti <shakes head>

Rest assured I'm not such a pillock anymore...mistakes, learnt from

Theres 2 types of boy racer. One who matures, and one who doesn't.

I reckon most guys and girls have been there at some point, but when its endangering life especially in a 30mph zone - then its only a matter of time till the worst happens.

Ring the Police - when they say that they dont have anyone available 'just at the moment' tell them that you are holding a shotgun and are going to deal with it ............... watch how fast they will be there!!! 6 cars, 15 cops, 20 armed, dogs, helicopters, the works!!

Just dont tell 'em who you are!! watch the fun!!

Hi Fuzz,

are you sure nova was injection motor ?
No - but it is one of the newer models - prob with single point injection into a "carb" body. Just wondered if the same rev, turn ign off/on would do the same thing as a carbed motor.
