Question

With our first Baby on the way in a couple of weeks and having paid a small fortune for building work recently my Scooby Insurance renewal notice nearly made me weep when it landed on the doormat this morning. I'm currently with A-Plan as they specialise in imports.

Running the risk of going over the same ground as earlier threads I wonder who people have had decent insurance quotes from recently (mine's a UK spec Dutch import, which might rule out a few contenders). Also my 1 year warranty is also about to run out on me so I'd be interested in any recommendations of 3rd party warranties..

Any help would be much appreciated!

Greg

The fact that is a UK spec dutch import means you should be paying no extra insurance whatsoever.

Grey imports from Japan mean an additional premium as parts are on the whole more expensive.

I have insured through Admiral direct who told me that my Belgian WRX MY01 was simply classed as a UK car. This was the same with Direct Line and Privilege Insurance.

My quote was for £850, 25 Yrs, 7yrs NCB, No convictions 1 accident (non blame worthy)

How much were you quoted ?

Start shopping round. All the above are worth trying. If your car is standard then try NFU. Otherwise Barclays are apparently competitive.

Try doing a search on the insurance forum. For other quotes.

Cheers Nathan

I'm 29, max NCB and I paid £850 with A-Plan last year too. This time round they're after £980. I'll check the forum and shop around.
