Glass Scratch
#1
I have a small scratch that has appeared on my windscreen about 4" long and is definitely a scratch, as when you run you nail over it you can feel it. It's not that visible, but i am damned annoyed about it, and can't help but wonder how it happened, can't imagine a stone would cause that?!?
Any ideas? Can i get it out?

You used to be able to get a glass cutting compound at halfords. You need to use a power polisher (I imagine a drill type polisher attachment would do), as you need to use highish speed.
Never tried it myself, but was told it did work if you were patient.
Let me know if ot still exists, I wouldnt mind doing the whole screen to remove those hairline scratches you get from wipers etc

B,
I aint no glass expert but here goes...
I had a similar prob.....went to Autoglass place and saw a mate....he said cos the windscreen has in effect two pieces of glass with a thin film in between..as long as your outer glass is the only problem and its not pierced the film.....you can use some glass adhesive and fill it in.
He did it for me and it looked like a clear glue...you'd never know it was there!
As said..he did it for free but he did say you can buy windscreen chips stuff at most dealers..car shops.
I'd goto a windscreen place and get some free advice and maybe a free fix?

Cheers for the replies.
Don't to keen on the idea of 'sanding' my windscreen.
The Scratch is barely noticable as i said, although i notice it as I think any owner does...
Will pop along to a AutoGlass place and get them to take a look.
Still damned annoyed, had the windscreen smashes by as tone 2 weeks after getting the car and now this... Not my day.

I think we all have some bad luck...
I had my car 1 day and some geezer took my UK300 drivers door mirror off when he couldnt seem to judge a bend near Whitby.
I was cornering at 70 mph but well inside the white line.
Never caught the dude...he disappeared

I have gotten used to it now, something always happens when i get a new car...
some history;
Mini - Front gets reversed into by a woman while i am in the dentist approx 1 month after getting car.
Escort - Drove into some parking bollards the day i picked the car up minor damage only.
MR2 - 2 weeks after getting car, local joy riders total passenger side of car, car off road for further 2 weeks.
306Gti - Think I was lucky there!
and now the Scooby - windscreen smashed after 2 weeks.
c'est l'vie.

Not sure what the next motor will be, my mate and I were discussing it last night, he has an Integra R Type. I stated that for now I am happy with the Scooby, although a P1 could be next, or maybe an EVO.
Have always wanted a Porshe though, my girlfriend gave me a matchbox one for my birthday, not quite the real thing, but sits on my monitor as inspiration...
