I am really cross with Subaru UK. I paid £19000 for a month old 5 door WRX in April and now I find from the UK website they are offering NEW ones for £18995. Ok only £5 cheaper I hear you cry, but these are brand new fresh out the box cars What is my car worth now £1.99 ?
This is the type of stroke Ford used to pull which made me disloyal to the brand in the 1980's. I accept a new model comes out in the new year but what about OUR residuals
Its NOT big and its NOT clever.

Bluto.
It is a bummer and I.M. could have handled it better, i.e given the discretion to dealers,0% finance etc.
But, don't dispair, U still got a good deal, keep your car, ignore stupid Fugly comments and enjoy it.
Values will have to stablize, get the ppp and you'll love the car.
Same issue occurred with the UK300 and I remember P1 prices 'crashing' a while ago, sensible owners just kept them.
Put it in perspective, I bought a V6 Vectra 5 yrs ago for 16k, offered 8k 6 months later when I looked at other cars!

Damn, you must be pissed off, that was a serious post without a single mention of your Maxi.

I vowed never to buy another new vehicle after being ripped off when I bought my bike, then again when I bought my Lexus. Used is the only way to go, IMHO

You shouldn't laugh when I mention my beloved Maxi 1750 HL. Its an absolute treasure and hasn't lost me anywhere near the amount of money this god damned Subaru has. Wish I'd kept the Forester

We all make bad calls now and again - I have seen the same CD that I bought BEFORE xmas for £14:99 at £7:99 in the sale after xmas So stop bl00dy moaning over £5!!! FOR A CAR!!!

Some people are NEVER happy! - you were happy with your buy - what people are getting them for now is immaterial - shut up and enjoy!

Oh no agreeing with Pete!

It is Sod's Law that you will always find the same thing cheaper just after buying it.

Ebjoy the car and then enjoy it some more!

Just a word of advice don't mention gold wheels to Pete!

Just for Dave (to remind him of what his wheels will look like when he gets them on the car) and also for Pete (because we all know how much he likes looking at Gold Wheels )

Enjoy Pete

bluto22b WROTE:

>>> I accept a new model comes out in the new year but what about OUR residuals <<<

Hmmm ... RESIDUALS. Yes indeed, what about them? Isn't that UK motor trade speak for making Brit mug-punter car buyers pay over the odds for their motoring anyway? This BS has sustained the company car set up in the UK for years. That's why so many manufacturers queue up to shift their tin here at UK over inflated prices. Car fleet buying companies get huge discounts, then dispose of cars later at used "residuals" based on what the mugs will have to pay for those ex fleet cars when shifted to the used retail car market. It can and does only happen here ... and with little signs of any real changes to benefit Joe punter ....

By the way ... a Maxi 1750 HL ... Maximum RESPECT ... :-)

P.S. By the way ... a Maxi 1750 HL ... Maximum RESPECT ... :-)

So that's what is REALLY meant by adequate leg room for rear seat passengers ..... and with independent rear suspension all those years ago ... unlike some modern cars you could mention ... :-)

MGJohn, you are a man of taste. Anyone who recognises the Austin Maxi for what it was (and still is!!) is a true enthusiast of the motor car. The Maxi redefined the breed, re invented the wheel, added glitz and glamour to the seventies and whats more allowed a couple to share those sumptious fold flat seats. Oh, the memories. So much so I went and bought one all over again

Blutes

p.s. First car in the UK to get a 5 speed 'box. Anyone remember the "Equipe" special edition ?

Cool

My old man swore by the Maxi 1750HL, had two of them over a 10 yr period & did 100,000+ miles. Reliable too.

In fact, it was one of the cars I learnt to drive in

I remember the equipe (aspired to ) & always wanted to do the maxi engine into a mini conversion...

Silly man, the "P" on the gold wheels doesn't stand for "PUFF", it's "PETE". Prodrive have heard how you like gold wheels so much, and have commissioned a set especially for you. We were going to give them to you as a surprise, but now you've gone and spoilt it
