Well, not really a versus thread I'd just appreciate a little info on them Mitsu' 3000GT things, you know the wedge shaped cars. I think I had a play with one this morning but I'm not sure!!
I was heading down the A1 and wasn't hanging about due to me running slightly late. I passed the 3000 and noted the massive twin exhausts sticking out the back, looked like trust jobbies Anyways, we weaved through a few roundabouts and then headed down a nice long, straight, empty road where I floored it. The problem is he was keeping a supersafe lorry and a half distance behind so I figured he wasn't racing but then I noticed that up till about 70mph we were pulling at the same rate (although it was difficult to tell with such a large distance between us anyway). We went a little further into 3rd gear (for me) and I pulled away a little bit and then I and also he backed off.
Normally when you've got someone up your rear end then start 1m from you bumper and see how long they can stay there. I can't decide if this guy was trying, but being polite and safe (hence gap), or if he was matching my acceleration by driving normally He may also of delibrately left the gap expecting to reel in what appears as a pretty normal UK turbo from the outside...who knows.
My question is simple really, what does the 3000GT have as standard (power, performance, 1/4mile, etc) and how tuneable are they, given that his zorst was defo upgraded. For those that don't know I have full-decat, tek3 and dawes so my car isn't slow
If there are 3000GT owners on here please don't start a fight I repected his car and i'm just curious to know if you guys think he was trying and what the 3000GT is all about

Standard power is 280bhp, 1/4 mile in approx 15 secs, quite tunable though ill see if i can find the owners club for you and you can check them out i think they are meant to be a bit numb to drive though and not give good feedback

Cheers tony If he was say at 290-300bhp (due to zorst) then that might explain why it was fairly even as I have about 270 but his cars a fat barsteward in comparison

Saxoboy, I used to own and yes they are very heavy. Thats what lets them down, that and as mentioned above lack of feel. Bit like driving a Supra TT, very quick but very uninvolving. With computer controlled suspension, active aerodynamics and loads of power, they handle pretty well and are very quick, turn heads etc but are not really a drivers car. Very modifiable, a decent exhaust alone would give you 40-50 bhp, then you can start playing with the twin turbos, twin intercoolers etc!!! Was sad to see mine go, but running costs were a complete nightmare.

Cool clip peccy !
To be honest I did think GTO's were faster but when you look at the weight of them you can understand why they aren't.
Nice cars though and on GT1 you could tune em close to 1000bhp
lol

Last service I had done on mine was a biggee (45,000 I think) included cambelt, but also had to replace front disk and pads, main dealer service (UK car) and it cost a grand!

A grand that's pretty rough!!
I know, but this is a hybrid thread, a sort of 'I played with a....' but als a 'what does a XYZ have....' thread. The 'I played with a...' threads tend to stay in general until the serious arguing starts and then it gets moved to other marques or if serious arguing the muppets might get it
If you want info on it, there is the Other Marques forum

Mid range is stonking, his previous car was a 500hp cossie which won brighton speed trials in 97,Gto is 3 seconds quicker round goodwood circut.
