Top Gear in half decent episode shocker!

Saw it - thought it was the best one I'd seen in ages, but extremely puzzled as to why they devoted almost 10 minutes to that flippin' Ford Thunderbird. Especially when you can't even buy it in the UK...
Glad to see there are no more features on people who collect petrol cans, etc...

the bits worth watching were quite good.
For example, Tiff doing a huge broadside in the M3 Cabbie, VBH dragging the R34 and Alistiar McRae in an extended donut sesh .
Point of order though, did anyone else see the time VBH got as she crossed the line? 13.86 seconds. The Cossie can do a 13.7
NOW! Either the Cossie is better than the Skyline, or I'm a better driver than VBH!
I'm a happy astraboy eitherway!

I thought the Thunderbird was a fantastic looking car. Almost as nice as the new IMP
(Sarcasm hat now removed)
Didn't see the point of the AccentWRC Vs Skyline drag race. I was quite suprised by how little the Hyundai won by seeing as it's got sequential gears, anti-lag, trick diffs and very little weight. Mildly tuned the Skyline would have given it a run for its money

Agree,
But I think people have more respect for Hyundai now than they did 5 years ago.
With a road car based on that rally car, I can honestly say I'd like one if the prize is right.
And remember if it wasn't rallying we'd all be driving round in Justys.

I agree it was a much better episode. I enjoyed the Maurauder bit as well, and even the M3 mini-test was well done.
I think it was better largely because they were actually telling us more about the way the cars drove than they have been doing.
It has almost been as if they weren't allowed to tell you anything about a car's handling or performance recently as if it was a taboo subject. This week was much more like it.

Enjoy it while you can boys - it is true that it has been canned
It encourages anti-social driving so is now banned from broadcast
Read it and weep
Thursday nights will never be the same.....
(agree that it was the best episode for yonks...)

dr hu i am staggered if thats the reasoning "encourages anti social driving".
what sad times we live in.
Have the producers never been on the m25, or the m62,its scarey the driving and they blame top gear. Funny thing is i never thought the spainish and italians watched the bbc but they must do cos they are often anti social drivers!! Any how can we all e mail points of view or something and get it back thats if we want it back.

Why then would BBC2 can its most successful programme?
The week before it was canned it had the largest BBC2 audience ever.......There was an interview with Tiffany Dell in our paper and he could'nt believe it either - in fact he was somwhat pissed off - as you would be...
Explain that one...If it was'nt political pressure I don't now what was.

I'm glad they're axing it - it's complete rubbish and whoever does their casting should be hung, drawn and quartered! That idiot who is presenting it at the moment should be banned from TV - what a muppet.
If you want to see Clarkson/VBH/Tiff you have to part with £10-15 for the privilege - what is the BBC coming to?

I agree that it should be dropped and re-thought. It's been p**s poor for a while now.
The reason I heard was that the programme controller for BBC2 wanted the show to be more like the gardening/home improvement shows with a similar layout. When this didn't work she canned it????
Another woman with no appreciation of the joy of motoring (unlike the lovely ladies on this BBS)
