Question

Anyone got any ideas for securing bits and pieces in the boot? Torch, maps, spare oil etc. etc.Don't want to drill holes through my nice new Prodrive boot mat and access to the spare wheel needs to be kept simple (It's always pouring with rain when you need to get in there).

Also ideas for positioning a fire extinguisher?

Buy a trunk monkey .

Or get a sainsbury's plastic box(the ones that go in the trolley's) and put all your bits in that. I tend to use the gap in the middle of the spare wheel, room enough for 1 litre of top up oil, some water, and a bottle of octane booster and the toolkit

Thanks for so quick a reply. How do stop the box flying around the boot?

Haven't looked in my scoob's boot, but on my cav there were little D rings that I attached some hook-end bungies (Halfords, Motor World etc) to then used them to secure my plastic box. It never budged at all.

My scoob's got nothing in the boot except for the plastic boot mat!

I put my fire extinguisher along the transmission tunnel, passenger side, horizontal and facing forwards, but it depends on the size. Mine was 1kg (IIRC, sold the car 9 mths ago) but discussion about extinguishers here earlier has been that anything under 5kg is barely worth it, basically buys you time to get out of the car. Not sure where you'd mount a beast that size in a daily road car.

Cool

glue velcro to the bottom of the box the hook side not the soft side and it will stick to the carpet then.
